Sometimes when I run I get a sharp pain in my right side. What causes that? How can I prevent it? How can I relieve it when it happens (aside from not running)?

it has to do with how you're breathing. take long deep breaths into your diaphragm (which is good all the time anyway) as opposed to quick shallow ones into your chest0

My running coach in high school recommended breathing in through your nose and mouth (yes, at the same time - takes some practice) and out through your mouth. This helps you get a deep full breath. Also, you want to breath in over two steps, and out over two steps.0

I was told - by a trainer - that I get this because I try to run too quickly for my current fitness level. Apparently slowing down significantly and gradually picking up on pace would sort this out.
I can't say I followed the advice - I hate running - I've had the stitch problem forever and it killed any desire I had to run.
So I choose not to try it out! But if it works for you...0
