Never thought I'd be a "binge-er"

Yano, someone that has a massive binge on large amounts of food...

But today I did, well, sort of... More like I over-ate, but in a short time frame. It wasn't even as if I was eating small amounts of food - I was on track for the day and yesterday I had a hearty 2000 calories due to a mac&cheese for dinner! On the whole I aim for 1500ish.

Had my dinner at 6pm, then at 7.30 my stomach was GROWLING... So I ate. And ate. Crisps and cereal are my weak spots.

I want to try to eat healthier before starting university, more fruits and veggies and protein and that. I feel I've suffered a massive set-back in terms of my steady weight loss and trying to be healthier.

Can anyone offer me some words of advice? :flowerforyou:

P.S. while I'm on the topic - when I go off to uni I was planning on buying about 80% "healthy" foods (e.g. fruits, wholegrains, wholemeal pasta, protein etc), and 20% treat foods. Currently in my house my family LOVE junk food, we have so much unhealthy, processed food. I was going to buy none at all, but I realised that is unsustainable and would lead to a big set-back, so am I wise to be doing this 80/20 rule thing? :)

I don't really ever buy "junk" food. (At uni also, senior) The most unhealthy thing I have is like triscuits or something. If I want something junky, my *kitten* has to walk to the store. But that's just me. But realize healthy stuff includes peanut butter, beans, cheese, stuff like that. You need all that stuff, and it's not bad for you. But like chips and cookies and sugary cereal I don't buy. Sometimes my mom visits me and brings me stuff like that and I'm like dammit haha.

I am not sure if I have a ton of advice. For a while I overcame binge eating, but I am struggling with it again. I wish I wouldn't do it I just ate the biggest piece of chocolate cake and potato chips, in addition to the dinner I prepared for my family. I also had a huge donut at work today which I used to be able to pass up. I have been hiding the behavior from my husband and too embarrassed to log it into MFP. Days that I start with a good breakfast and lunch I am more likely to control the overeating at home. Once I have a treat (like the donut at 9 am) the rest of the day goes down hill.

I am up at least 10 lbs now and want to stop.

We always have fresh fruit and veggies in the house, but we have more goodies around than normal. Maybe the first step is to just purge. I feel guilty throwing away chips and desserts but I would rather toss them than eat them.

I struggle with binge eating and no longer keep anything that would trigger a binge in the house. If I want something I will usually buy a small portion at the store to eat immediately. For example, oreos. If I want oreos I will walk to 7/11 and buy ONE 6 pack.
