One of my quick mixes on the elliptical, it's all over the place, and it changes constantly, sometimes more pop, other times I throw some metal into the mix if I'm feeling ornery. ;)

warm up: Rock the Casbah - The Clash
    Song 2 - Blur
    Happy - Pharrel Williams
work it!: Hit that perfect beat boy - Bronski Beat
The Cry Forum - Mother Mother
    Gold Guns Girls - Metric
    Mr. Blue Sky - ELO
    Breathing Underwater - Metric
    Turn to Stone - ELO
    Synthetica - Metric
cool down: Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
More than a Feeling - Boston
Jump in the Line - Harry Belafonte

I've been listening to some older stuff lately that I've been getting free from Amazon Prime. Some favorite tracks include:

Holding Back the Years - Simply Red
Into the Night - Santana featuring Chad Kroeger
Smooth - Santana featuring Rob Thomas
More Than a Feeling - Boston
    The Chain - Fleetwood Mac

I listen to the entire albums, but these are some of my favorite tracks while zooming along on my bike.

    Here are a few favourites:

Aside by the Weakerthans (probably the most literary workout tune ever but a good one at a great tempo)
Great Expectations by The Gaslight Anthem
Holiday in Cambodia by The Dead Kennedys
Bonzo Goes to Bitburg by The Ramones

Some days, though, I'm I'm liable to just embrace my teenage metalhead roots and spend some quality time with Metallica's Master of Puppets. It's an acquired taste, for sure, but it gets the blood flowing.

Right now I'm a bit obsessed with Jenny Lewis's new album, Voyager, so I've been listening to the whole thing every lift session for the last month. She friggin' kicks *kitten* (but is legit messed up!).

For cardio workouts I just need a fast beat.

Following. Need a new playlist desperately. Updating my music is on my to-do list. ;)

Oh, and if I wanted a song to tell me to work I would likely choose Iggy Azalea's "Work" over Britney Spears. But that's just my preference.

For me 80s hits work best :) Among my favorites: "Far from over" from Frank Stallone, "Never" from Michael Gore (I love seeing Kevin Bacon dance) and "(We dance) So close to the fire" from Tommy Faragher... More recent "This is how we do" from Katy Perry and "Burn it down" from Awolnation.

I put the complete discography for Rage Against the Machine on shuffle.
  • Check out Steady130.com. I used to mix my own playlists because I'm THAT picky about what I listen to and I like it to flow together without gaps.

They have tons of workout mixes and that vary in style and tempo for download. Most mixes run for an hour. And it's like a DJ, where they don't always play the whole song...the songs change more frequently which I find really keeps me going if I'm doing a long cardio. The best part is, it's free! This site has saved me so much time (and money) because I don't buy and mix my own any more. Once in a while a playlist has a song that I don't like but for the amount of great stuff they have, I can overlook it! :)

So, I always have to have music on when I work out. I have decided I want to put together an epic playlist. Would love to hear your favourite workout tunes for inspiration.

Obviously Britney's - you better work B*tch is a bit slow in tempo for the energetic stuff, but the message of the song always gets my head in the right place and is a great warm up song.

So, hit me with your best tracks!

Actually this is one of my friends favorite songs to workout to!

Beyonce's- Diva & Run the World

Fall Out Boys- My Songs Know What You Did

Muse - Supermassive Black Hole & Uprising

Michael Jackson's- Ghost & Smooth Criminal

Are a few on my playlist
  • Always listen to Two Steps From Hell....great composure that sets good tempo and allows the mind to focus without too many words (I tend to sing along instead of working out lol)
Thomas Bergerson is great too...he's a composer with TSFH too...just gets ya pumping!
Strength of a Thousand Men is a personal favorite of mine when I work out

I Fink You Freaky - Die Antwoord

    212 - Azaelia Banks

    Gimme Chocolate! - BABYMETAL

No joke, these are my favourite songs to really hit the pavement to HARD. They always pump me up! (I've got a really eclectic taste in music, in case you can't tell. Hahahahaha.)

Right now my play list consists of Gojira, Mastodon, Slayer, Killswitch Engage, Dio (gotta have warm up music!), In Flames, DevilDriver, Otep....just to name a few.
