Hellloo,
I had researched everything and blogs about macros. And no, I cannot afford paying an expensive trainer who would tell me the truth about macros and lifting instead of telling me to eat clean and do massive cardio. I lift heavy 5 times per week and I do cardio, maybe three times a week for 30 mins. I have been doing iffym and it works. My body is slimmer, I lost about 4 inches around my stomach but unfortunately, I'm more heavier than before. (I was 164 and I wanted to lose some pounds but instead I gained to 173. Also, I'm 5'8.) I know I sound silly but should I just throw out my scale before I go crazy? I feel like there's something wrong.
I checked TDEE on iffym calculator website and selected aggressive 20%.
my calorie/day is 1872
fat - 50g
carb - 230g
protein - 125g
I've been hitting right on point. Did I do something wrong or agree with me about throwing out my scale.
Thank you!

Lost inches = progress - who cares what the scale says if the inches are coming off??? No one sees your scale number, but they do see a smaller waistline, and a trimmer, fit body.
Ignore the scale, love your tape measure.Congrats on your progress so far!

If you're gaining, you're in a surplus. While the scale is only a unit of measurement, it still has its place. Are you happy at your weight or do you want to lose weight?
Scale weight becomes meaningless when you start to get leaner. It comes down to BF%, measurements and how you feel. It's a good way to judge progress in a way but not something concrete. Like, for me, I weigh in daily and take the average. After a few weeks, I see where my weight is trending and adjust up or down 100 calories and go from there.
It may come down to logging accuracy. Do you weigh your food on a food scale?
Highly recommend joining the Eat, Train, Progress group and reading the stickies there. There is a plethora of information. It was key to me having the success I've had and I'm sure many others. Here's a good read too and good luck :flowerforyou:

True, you're right. But I feel.. heavy. :noway:0

Yes, I want to lose weight but instead, I've been gaining but my body is slimmer. I was pants size 12 until now I'm 6 but I gained about 10 pounds. Oops, I forgot to mention that I do weigh food on food scale that I bought two months ago and measure everything. But thank you for the resources, I gotta check it out!0

Could you be retaining water for any reason? Perhaps you hit maintenance at some point and got glycogen stores back? How often do you weigh?0

i'm confused.
you lost 4 inches, went from a size 12 to a size 6. what exactly is the problem?0 -
I usually weigh myself every three weeks. But now it's stalling for two months. I love my progress but I just feel so heavy.. I'm just asking for some opinions. That's all! :huh:0

Muscle mass weighs more than fat. Maybe the heavy lifting is causing muslce gains?0

Muscle is more DENSE than fat. It does not weigh more. If you have a pound of feathers and a pound of bricks it would still be a pound.
I believe what the the user was say is that you were gaining muscle and sense it is dense it takes less of it to weigh more. So you can be losing inches but in some cases people can gain weight.0 -
Thank you for the opinions! I might try to adjust my calorie by going down around 100-200 slowly. And yes, my legs are full of muscles and I gained a beautiful booty!
thank you guys!! :flowerforyou: :drinker:0
