knee pain assistance

ok. so i used to have a problem which has been remedied via physical therapy recently. here is my issue: I work out regularly now, and where jumping is required i usually just modify the exercise so i don't have to bounce too much. That said, i still have problems with pain in my left knee to the point to where it feels like it is full of fluid. i drink loads of water and always stretch before and after working out but am still having issues. i don't like popping pain meds for this. is there anyone here that could advise me further. oh and i also did hot/cold compresses. or maybe you know exercises that i should do? thanks

Do you have really good shoes that fit? I've had problems with my knees in the past and I found that I needed to drink more water (I know you already mentioned that) and get a better pair of shoes that could support jumping. I still had to take it slow and ease into the jumping workouts. Now I can do them with no problem.0

Ive had knee pain for a while now too due to an injury a while back. i've found that doing the bike at the gym is helpful because you can still do cardio without your knee supporting your weight. strengthening the muscles surrounding your knee will help support it (ie; quads). hope this helps!0

Try wearing a knee brace when working out, and leaving it on for about 15 minutes after your cool down. I also recommend talking to your doctor about vitamins that may help with better joint mobility. I use one made out of neoprene and it helps to prevent fluid build up. I also take a Super B Complex which has helped reduce my knee pain. I have not had surgery however and am not sure if this will work.0

I suffer from Tendonitis in my Right knee and it is bloomin' agony! It does sound like the same kind of thing so you should get it checked out with your Dr. In the meantime, try wrapping some surgical tape tightly underneath your knee - this always works for me! If you ever watch Rugby, you'll see a high percentage of the players do the same thing! I hate to break it to you, but last time my tendonitis flared up I ended up with steroid injections into my knee - so DEFINITELY get it checked out!0

There are SO many factors that could cause this pain. You could possibly be over stretching before? or (I'm broken) here are some of the issues that cause me knee pain--
1) my hips are uneven, causing one leg to be longer and putting more stress on my right knee
2) my feet pronate and I have been told to buy shoes that have as much support for the arch as possible (Newbalance and Asics are best) however I bought Nike Free's last year- I hurt for 2-3 months, but have since had significantly less pain and have improved my run times by 1.5 min.
3) You may have pulled the muscle in your thigh that connects to your knee, which causes pain
4) if your ankles are weak your knees may be making up for the stability
I would suggest seeing your dr about this, if he/she can't figure it out see a Chiropractor. (took me 2 drs, 2 specialist, 1 physical therapist, and (finally) a Chiropractor figured it out and "fixed" it) For me the Chiro did the most good cause he was able to move my spine and hips where the are supose to be, putting my legs at the same length- alleviating my pain. Prior to that, I spent 6 year not being able to walk more than .24miles without limping. Now I'm military and run mulitiple miles on a regular basis0 -
Walking and classic skiing are what keeps my knees from feeling squishy and rather warm. But on the same note I read online that if your knees hurt hiking down hill then you need to lighten your load/backpack. So I am lightening my load by hopefully losing 40 pounds.0

thanks everyone i think it is time i started wrapping it. and i already take loads of vitamines but i do think i will increase my b vitamines and go get me some joint suppliments. i know it is not anything serious cause i have already been evaluated by my orthopedic dr. i think that it has something to do with the loss of muscle and mobility i suffered for the past 2 years while figuring out why i would hurt when doing any physical activity. it started in my hips so daily activities got to be painful. now that i have been cleared of everything i am trying to get to my goal of finally running for the first time in 5 years. this is the goal i have set for myself.0

I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY KNEE SINCE I BROKE IT. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO ELECTRO SHOCK THERAPY FOR IT AND THE DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT RIDDING A STATIONARY BIKE WOULD HELP ME AND TO WEAR A BRACE WHEN I EXERCISE.0
