Shorts over running tights? Yes or no?

Ok what's the big deal about weraing shorts over long tight stretchy running pants? I don't like the feel of loose pantlegs flapping around when I run but some days it's just too cold for shorts.
I'm not real confortable running in tights looking all Baryshnikov like.
So why all the poo-poo on wearing black running shorts over black running tights.

I wear spandex shorts in the summer and spandex tights in the winter and I really do not care want people think when I'm running. I love my spandex. ????
