Running with bruises?

Sorry if I sound like a complete moron here.

Yesterday I was playing some football in the yard. Went for a catch and ran full tilt, smack into a decorative well on the lawn. I hit it quite hard today I have a bruise that's probably 8 inches long by 3-4 inches wide on the outside of my thigh. The leg is tender (especially to the touch) and a bit swelled up but I'm not concerned anything is damaged or broken. My question is, is it going to hurt anything to run my normal training run (4 miles) tonight? I'm thinking no but then again.... I'm still newish to the exercising/running world.

Appreciate it!

Ice the bruise and then play it by ear. Running isn't going to make things worse but may be uncomfortable, if it is too painful take today as a cross training day.

Ice before and after running, then just decide when to stop based on pain. You might get 500 feet, or you might get 4 miles. Stop when your body tells you to. I would avoid any real hills at all though, up or down.

    You play football!? That's cool!

I think that your bruise will hurt while running.

My husband plays in a flag football league and I was practicing with the team. Team owner says no girls allowed or else I would! :(
