Trying to slim down for my wedding...

Hello everyone.
I found this site on my phone, as an Android App, and after seeing some of the other diet/exercise apps with forums I thought I'd look at the website that went along with the application I liked the most.
I'm not really looking for a quantitative result (i.e. loosing pounds), but more of a qualitative result (i.e. dropping a pants size or two). I used to be this itty bitty thing and I would try clothes on and think, "That looks cute" or "Gee, I look pretty good". Now I feel self-concious and hate the way I look. This is the biggest I've been in my life. Part of that is post-pregnancy weight, but most of it is that I started eating a lot of fast food and didn't exercise. Now I've cut out the fast food (or at least am trying to) and I'm drinking water instead of soda all day.
I wouldn't mind getting back to my weight before I started gaining so much (125 lbs), so that's the goal I'm shotting for, but I've got lesser goals I'd like to manage to get to before then. My main priority right now is dropping two pants sizes to fit into my wedding dress by the end of August. I'm getting married on September 3, and the dress is a size 12 but I wear a size 14. When I tried it on it fit but was snug and would need to be let out if I were to wear it today. My fiance is in the Navy and is stationed Connecticut while I'm going to school in South Carolina. We don't see much of each other, so I want to surprise him. Last time he saw me in person I was a little bit bigger than I am now. I won't see him again until our wedding and I want him to tell me I'm beautiful and be able to believe it. I've already started loosing weight because I started working out (although not regularly, but I'm trying to fix that).
If you read all of that, thank you for taking the time to do so and I would like to know about you too.
I'm looking for moral support, or friends... I can always use a good friend.

Welcome we are in the same boat...I used to be the skinning little thing that never had a problem finding something to wear. I refuse to be the fat bride. Im adding you lets do this together0

I am trying to loss weight for my wedding too... we are getting married this year (sometime in Sept or October) but we are going to Vegas, and i want to look good in a swim suit... not so much a small bikini but just a nice tank kini or somthing.
I love your story... how exciting you are not going to see him until the wedding, OMG you must be going crazy.
GOOD LUCK!0 -
Im with you there. My wedding is in August and I just had a baby girl six months ago. I want to lose 15 lbs but its hard.0

I'm new too. Congratulations on getting married...
I range between a 12 and a 14 too...Honestly you are on the right track though because if I don't want to do anything drastic, I just want to go from a 14ish to a perfect 12, than I cut out all sweets, soda, and fried food and that usually does it 4 me....If you are strict...but it's not even noticeable after a week. You don't even feel like you are dieting or anything is what I mean....
Good luck though...That's a very reasonable goal, I'm sure you will do it0 -
You've got seven months to drop one clothes size... that's heaps of time.0

I am in the same boat. I have just recently gotten engaged and would LOVE to be my pre baby weight of 125, but I would settle for 130. It takes hard work to do it, but you CAN do it. This website is amazing and by cutting out soda and fast food, you'll be amazed at how great you feel. Since I have cut out fast food (November) I actually find that I don't crave it at all and am perfectly okay saying no when my fiancee mentions it. Good luck and remember, you can and will do this.0

My fiance is a Nuke EM on a submarine. He's only been in Connecticut for 2 deployments so far, and I should be done with school by the end of the summer, so shortly after the wedding I'll be able to move up there with him. What about your boyfriend? What does he do?0 -

That's Great! I don't want to be a big bride either. When I walk down that isle with all those people looking at me, I want to be thinking about how excited I am, not freaking out about how I look in my dress.0 -

Thanks! Good luck to you too. I'm not quite going crazy yet. I saw him the last week of December, but it's going to suck half way through the year. I'll probably start freaking out around May or June and it'll just get worse from there, I'm sure. I'm not expecting to ever look good in a bathing suit again, but I'm going to try to slim down by summer to fit well in a one-peice. I've got too many streach marks to look good in anything else.
I hope you have a good time in Vegas.0 -

Thanks. I'm glad to hear that. I'm a solid 14 and want to be a 12. I know I'll never be down to the single digits again but I'd like to just be able to fit into something smaller than a large. I've cut out the fast food, and cut back on soda drastically, replacing it with water. I plan on cutting out soda by the end of February. I tried to cut both fast food and soda out of my diet completely the first week of January, but I felt like crap for days and I get caffine withdrawl headackes. I figure if I cut back gradually it won't be so bad. I'm down to only a 12oz soda a day, which is way better than the 2-3 bottles of soda a day that I had been drinking. I hope it does start to feel less like a diet and more normal. It would make this entire experiance a lot easier for me.0 -

Its good to hear that someone else has done what I'm trying to do and succeeded. Thank you. I'm trying for 125 (my weight when I met my fiance) as well, but I'd be ok with just 135 (my pre-pregnancy weight).0
