Are you stretching when you're done?

Go to a proper running store and get your foot analyzed!

They can then recommend the best shoe for you.

I used to get those too so when I started working on trail running I asked some of my running friends what they recommend. They all pointed me towards a company called altra.

They produce a line of shoes specifically designed to let your foot operate in its natural form but with the protection of a shoe. So far no shin splints after about a month of training in them. They actually feel like the best shoes I have ever owned, with my everyday shoes felt that great.

No matter the brand of shoe, the question is if you've been fitted for shoes to suit your gait? Have you gone to a running shoe store to have your gait analyzed?

The suggestions in that linked article are good. You may also need to consider compression sleeves.

I agree with properly fitted shoes for your gait. I NEED stability shoes. They're more expensive but I've run in every other type of shoe and it's horribly painful. A running shop is best but roadrunnersports.com and runningwarehouse.com both have good tools to help determine the type you need.

this! I work at a Specialty Running Store. Shin splints can occur from a lot of different reasons-usually a beginners issue, but if your in the wrong shoes or old shoes, your risk is greater. Switching from a soft surface to a hard surface, too much distance too soon. A lot of different factors. Get fitted properly. And good luck

Get fitted for shoes, then address your stride. Aim for shorter steps rather than long strides. Running shoe opinions are like a-holes yanno
