Will the Apple iwatch take over MyFitnessPal
We've seen the up and coming release of the Apple iwatch, so does anyone else think it might take over from MFP and fitbit? All Apple slaves will love the step tracking features and they're having a new app called Healthbook(I think) if it tracks food too all this could fade away. What do others think?

If they are smart, they will have the Apple Watch tie in with other fitnaess apps like MFP. I wear a FitBit, but it does not track heartrate, which the Apple watch will alledgedly do.0

The watch itself has a fitness tracking app, but outside of that theya re looking for developers to create other apps, or to tie in the data to existing apps, like MFP. So I think MFP will still be used by many, heck, maybe even more as people start tracking their calories along with their steps.0

I have a fitbit too. The garmin has a heart rate monitor and is just like the fitbit. Let's hope it syncs with MFP as I think I'll be one of those people sucked in to getting one.0

I was disappointed that it doesn't track sleep, as that is something I try to pay attention to. However, from what I've read, Healthbook will basically pull in into from your various apps, like FitBit (so sad, mine no longer synchs), MFP, Withings, etc., so that all of your info is in one place.0

I don't even own a smart phone. Due for an upgrade and will most likely be getting a flip phone. So it really makes me no difference and I will continue to use MFP.0

I'll help you track your sleep (and this is just an example, so please don't do this every night): if you go to bed at 10:00 p.m. and wake up at 7:00 a.m., you slept for nine hours. HOWEVER (this could get tricky), if you go to sleep at 10:45 and wake up at 6:15, you slept for 7 1/2 hours. If you go to Target or Wal-Mart of whatever, they have contraptions called "clocks" that can really assist you in figuring this out.
Good luck. :flowerforyou:0 -

Here's an article that specifically mentions MyFitnessPal planning on using the new Apple Watch. It also mentions a developer who is looking at the sleep tracking features.

I think I would be very interested in having one as I love my fitness gadgets. I currently use a Polar FT4 HRM and the Fitbit 1. I'm just not convinced how Apple could effectively replace this technology well enough or better, knowing that wrist operated HRMs and Accelerometers are not as efficient as heart straps and tech that sits on the core part of your body.
I think I'd wait for the initial reviews and then consider buying one. The other half is Apple mad so if he gets one, I'll simply strap him up with the HRM and Fitbit for the day and compare the readings!0 -
I'm getting one.!
I was considering getting a fitbit, but was waiting for the iwatch announcement. The heart rate monitor makes it for me. The fitbit really is just a pedometer......
And I believe they said that it does track sleep activity. The issue is that it is bulkier than a fitbit, so people may not want to wear it all night....0
