Non nutty snacks

I love nuts as snacks or even peanut butter/almond butter. I believe my Zone bars have nuts in them too. Once I start back in my office in January, I have a coworker who has a severe tree nut allergy. I really like her as an employee so keeping her out of the hospital or having to jab an epi pen is the goal. I work an insane schedule some times so I need to pack snacks with me.

Does anyone have ideas on non nutty snacks that will make me full, are quick, and easy cleanup?

    Greek yogurt is one of my go-to's its fast easy and SUPER healthy, also there are some great tasting nut free snack bars called Larabars that could work, try a few flavors and see what you think?
  • How about dried fruit? I also get little bags of wasabi peas in the Japanese section of my supermarket, gives you a nice crunchy savoury hit

    How about low-fat mozzarella cheese sticks?

    My sons have a little girl in their school with the same allergy. Its difficult to choose snacks that haven't touched a tree nut! Is getting easier though and they look forward to their PB&J on weekends :happy:

    * Hummus and Pretzels
    * Cheese strings, pepperoni
    * Deli meat, pickles
    * Tortillas and salsa ( check tortilla chip ingredients first, some are iffy )
    * Popcorn
    * Dried fruit

  • How could I forget? Popcorn! I pop my own then spray it with a 1cal butter spray and season it. 25g comes out to under 100cal if you have it plain and it makes a serving that keeps me occupied if I am feeling snacky

    At Target yesterday I found something called Somersaults in the snack section that has granola and healthy stuff. They're crunchy, nut-free nuggets that are made mostly with wheat and sunflower seeds. The ones I got were the cinnamon crunch ones, and at 10 calories each, they're pretty good. :3 And really filling, too, since they're high in protein.

    Thank you all! I do eat some of those but never think about bringing them to work. I often fail when I pack things for that day and when I get to work, I don't want it. That's where my eyes start to wander to the pizza place next door or the dollar store. I usually keep snacks in my desk (the perks of being a manager, at least until they revamp my office) so I have a variety. Our fridge there is tiny so I can't keep things for my perusal when I want to.

    i haven't eaten seeds yet nor tried the larabars, I didn't know that some are nut free. Awesome!
