realistic weight loss expectations?

i was just wondering how much weight i could safely lose in three months/90 days? im 18 years old, 250 pounds, and i work out 3 or more hours every day. my workouts consist of cardio and weight training/toning. id like to lose 50 pounds but i know what is a large amount. i do have a personal reason for losing the weight in this time frame, and no its not a vacation or anything like that. i guess my question is has anyone ever done it or can it be done? if not what have you lost in 3 months? or how long did it take you to lose 50 pounds? thank you for all replys.

I think the best thing you can do is not try to think about how much and focus on doing so in a healthy, reasonable manner. Whatever comes off in that time does.

Set yourself up for success not only for weight loss but for maintenance in the end. I never set dates on things, often it leads to stress and burn out, disappointment. The effort is half the battle. Here's some good reads on getting started

If you're aiming to lose weight in a safe and maintainable way, I would estimate you should lose between 12-24 pounds, but 50 isn't reasonable. I lost 47 pounds in 6 months, going from 155 to 108.
  • i am looking to do this safe and maintainably. i eat healthy and workout, im not on a diet or anything im just making healthier choices, i was little curious since i know someone personally who just lost 80 pounds in three months, im not sure how he did it i dont wanna ask, but id be more than happy with 10-20 pounds.. im not really going for a number, just looking to be healthier in the end and keep it up, but sometimes i get curious about the numbers too

I lost 1.1 pounds a week for the first six months, without feeling hungry or angry all the time. Since then my loss has been a lot slower (deliberately). It took me about 14 months to lose 50 lb. I'm fairly active as a cyclist, and I didn't want to lose weight so quickly that I didn't have the energy for long fast rides.

Next week will be 3 months for me and I've lost 38. I have had slip ups and dont exercise half as much as you do, so I'm sure you could do it if you stuck with it religiously. Personally I would say do your best and don't worry if you don't hit 50 in exactly three months. Be proud of what you do accomplish :)
