im male , 40 , 172 lbs , 5 9"
i have been using this site for about a year but my day streak is only about 15 days
i had my calories at 1200 for a about the whole year (2 lbs a week loss) , and not made any real difference.
i keep reading that 1200 is to low for women let alone males
i wondering if it is far to low, i have changed it to 1600 a week now (1lb a week) . is this better for me ?
was i hitting that starvation mode ting i have read about before , or something ?

Starvation mode doesn't exist.
Do you use a food scale? Your diary has been in the red quite a bit, especially by some major amounts, so you may be eating more than you think.0 -
The "Eat more to lose more!" is bad advice. Eating less (and/or excercing more) is the only way to lose more.
If you don't lose on 1200, you can either start weighing every bite of food you take to see if you aren't eating more than you think or you can drop your goal to 1000 and see how that works.
Everyone is different. I don't lose on 1200. Some people would lose tons and tons.
You have to find what works for you. But increasing your daily calorie limit is not the way to weight loss.
If you have yet to see your doctor, by all means, go do that. Everyone should visit their doctor when beginning a weight loss journey.0 -
Dude, the number you set for your goal is meaningless if you don't stick to your goal. I looked back a bit and you have several days just in the recent past that you are way over your goal. 1200 calories is indeed way to low for most people and I feel safe saying 99% of men. That being said, having a goal of 1200 is meaningless if you are eating 2200... Pick a more reasonable goal and actually stick to it day in and day out and I bet you will start to see results.0

1700 is better.
Eat more vegetables like romaine lettuce and broccoli. They will help you feel more satisfied.
Stick with the 1700 EVERY DAY and you will lose weight.
This whole game is about how we do it right one day and then do it right the next day as well.
Keep doing one right day at a time.0 -
thank you
i got answers, not the ones i was expecting, but answers anyway
i had my intake too low , so i would be ok one day but the next i would binge out a bit , i thought i as still ok , but it apears not
so if i increase my intake to 1600 then the chance of any kind of small/meduim /massive binge is a lot lot smaller
thank you0
