Having a naughty food day

Do you think its possible for someone to lose weight eating healty 6 days a week and then having the 7th day as an "eat what you want" day?
Lots of people trying to lose weight seem to do this. I honestly don't think I could because it almost seems that it would destroy all the good days.

yes as long as you overall burn more calories than you consume you should lose weight. Although this would make it slower.0

The bad food day is a non calorie counting day.
I really don't know if the plan will work in the long term.0 -
I think it depends on how you do it. If you use that 7th day to gorge yourself on anything and everything you can find, you're probably not doing yourself any favors. If you use that as the day that you choose the burger instead of the salad (or, whatever your pleasure is) I think it's probably good--that way you don't end up with uncontrollable cravings and you end up with a diet that actually works with your life.0

That plan has never worked for me. Instead I am trying to make better choices overall but when I want something I check the calories and work it into my day. I want to learn to eat healthy for the rest of my life so that this is the LAST time I have to "diet". Nothing is "off-limits" because I don't want to feel deprived but portion sizes are important and I can't have everything I like everyday. Just choose a plan that works for you and good luck on the journey.0

I have a free day,it works for me.I dont go crazy because I just dont eat alot as it is I just dont count calories on that day and if I want a big burger or something from a fast food place I get one.0

I pick my naughty foods wisely too, lol....chocolate craving? 5 caramel Hershey kisses, ice cream craving? Low fat/sugar ice cream bar. Muffin/donuts craving? MMMmm that's a hard one...I try to close my eyes. But I don't deprive myself through out the week, last night I had to make a decision, extra chicken eggroll ( I enjoyed 3 already!) or warm peanut butter cookie fresh from the oven...guess which one won!:blushing:0

I'm going out for pizza tomorrow night with my best friend (we're both using MFP) and we've worked out which pizzas have 800cals or less and we've been exercising yesterday, will exercise today and also tomorrow so that even if we have left just enough space for pizza but go over it won't matter as there are a couple hundred left over from other days so my cals in/cals out will be balanced!
Thats how i try to work treats in, if there are spare calories then i can eat it....if not, tough!0 -
I have to agree I try not to deprive myself. The key for me has been determining what is a real craving and what is wanting it simply because it is there. I don't go with one day not logging, that in the past has been bad for me. I log everything and if i truly decided I wanted something I make sure I do something to offset that day. One of the biggest causes of eating failures for me has been that I feel like "cheating" is being bad.....In order for me to succeed I have to listen to my body forever, not just while I diet, so if I want that candy bar I had better figure out how to make it work in a normal day, around other healthy habits.0

I think it depends. If at the 7th day you allow yourself to eat anything you want, you might want to repeat it the next day which could mean consecutive days of eating a lot. That could eventually cause you to lose focus from your MFP plan.0
