Overnight shifts and calorie counting

I work odd hours that are almost never the same. Some one them are over night. When counting calories should I be counting midnight to midnight? Or when I wake up to when I go to bed as a day?

It's up to you, just keep it consistent.0

Personally, I count from when I wake up to when I go to bed. But that's a personal choice. As long as you are consistent with what your "time zone" is, you will be fine.0

It doesn't matter. I also work nights and I personally don't call it a new day until I have gone to sleep. If I eat at 2am on Wednesday morning I count it to Tuesday. You could also simply pick an arbitrary time and make it your new "day". For instance if you eat breakfast before you go to bed in the morning and would rather count that to your next day, you can. Total calories for the week is really all that matters so again, count it to whichever day you want.0

Okay thank you. The problem is my schedule is constantly changing so while this week I am on over nights, next week I could be on all days.0

I sometimes have to work 3rd shift and 1st shift, my normal schedule is 2nd shift. I always chose to make my day from when I get up until I go to bed to account for changes.0

I work a graveyard shift. I've always done it midnight to midnight.0

I work 6:30pm to 7am 3x a week - but on my days off i sleep randomly. I do midnight to midnight to keep it even.0

I may try midnight to midnight but the times I get to eat are kind of inconsistent (no actual breaks) so it is possible to not get to eat until after midnight even if I had planed for it earlier. I think I will try one way for a week, and then the other way for a week and see which method I find most useful.
Thank you every one for input.0 -

I work 12 hour night shifts and do the same. Track from sleep to sleep!0 -
Do it the easiest way for you so long as you're consistent.0
