I am 5'8 and 18 years old and a female. A month and a half ago I weighed low 150s to high 140s. And now I weigh 160. I have also cleaned up my diet and I exercise a lot. I have soccer 5-6 days a week and weight lifting once a week. I don't think it's all muscle but I honestly have no idea why I am gaining weight and it is very frustrating. Please help!
Yes I usually measure my portions and I eat about 2,000 calories a day

It's not intended to be snarky, it's just true.
Use a food scale, weigh your food, count your calories, lose weight and profit.0 -
If you're tracking your food on here, open your food diary. It will give people more of an idea of what you're eating so they can give better advice.0

But, yeah, in short you are eating more than you are burning.0

Hi there,
It could be one of several reasons why you are gaining weight; first of all, you say you are 18 years old? Your body doesn't stop growing until you are 21, so this could be a reason. Also, you mentioned you do weightlifting as part of your training? Do you do this more than once a week? If so, don't forget that muscle weighs twice as much as fat, so it could be lean muscle.
If you aren't happy with gaining weight, it might be worth looking at your food intake - like quite a lot of people have said, it could be the amount of calories you are putting in, verses what you are burning on a daily basis. If you aren't happy, maybe try reviewing your calorie intake, and change your goal. This will adjust the amount of calories you require, and should help too!
I hope this helps!0 -
Hi there,
Its understandable that you are frustrated but you are doing so well by the sounds of it, so don't give up- persistence is key!
Now, the scales! ohhh the scales at their harsh reflection of mean numbers! Please take this advice- stop using them. You are training like a machine, so its time to ditch the scales and take up using a measuring tape. Set up a simple spreadsheet and track your numbers that way and I'm sure you will start to see things in a whole different light!
Check out this chick- she has some great advice https://www.youtube.com/user/Carlyrowena/videos
also you will see her bod is rad and she actually weights 67kgs!
Dont let the scale define you.
