Gear for Running In Colder Weather?

I feel like this is a silly question but since I honestly do not know so I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. I did my first 5k in May and noticed a lot of people wearing some kind of tights or leggings (especially the girls) but I cannot quite figure out where to go and find them. They are worn under shorts and remind me of leggings in a way but were not full length. They were also very bright/colorful. And for the life of me I can't find anything like them. I am not sure if they're specifically at a sports store or where to look.
But if anyone could send me in the right direction or at least distinguish what I am looking for that would be great as I have a couple 5ks coming up and it is getting chillier, they would definitely come in handy.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Running/Sports stores will have them. They are expensive, but is worth it to not wear cotton. Also old navy has the same things at a more affordable price, but usually only black or gray0

You can find running tights like that at a sporting goods store or running store. I usually see them in black, so I don't know about colors.0

Do you mean capris / running / compression tights (like this: http://www.sweatybetty.com/clothes/bottoms/capris/camofloral-adrenaline-run-capris/?rr_site_mode=uk)
You can find them in most specialist running stores or dozens of sporting websites.0 -
They are just tights or leggings, you get them anywhere you get exercise/fitness/leisure gear. You can get them specifically for running or yoga or compression or the winter.0

If you have any T.J.Maxx or Marshall's near you check there - they typically have a good selection of workout/running clothes for less than what you would pay in a sporting goods store.0

What they all said, sport stores.
Other handy cold weather gear is a pair of light gloves, a headband or buff, and a lightweight rainproof jacekt. All available at any decent sports store.0 -
Hey! I'm thinking you're looking for something along the lines of these?

Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but I hope that helps. I've never worn them under shorts before though. Underarmour sells a lot of leggings/ knit tights for runners that are perfect for winter running. Just go on the website, or to a local outlet. Make sure it says "coldgear" on it though, if you're looking for something to run less than 40 degrees in. Good luck, and no shame in asking, we've all been there0 -
Also check out this website (gives you an idea for how many layers you should wear depending on the temp outside).

Check you local sporting good store they might have what you are looking for or try fabletics.com
Running leggings is what I call them and people usually know what I am talking about. Not sure if that is the proper name or not but it is a start.0
