What should I do after this binge?

I think my stomach is a bottomless pitt... Some binges that i've read about say they've eaten 2500 calories. This morning at around 6 AM, I ate about 4000 calories of : 4 bowls sugarless muesli,6 tbls of organic peanut butter, around 5 slices whole wheat bread and butter and honey, 1 apple, 1 big bowl of pasta. I know, i'm disgusting. I've had BED disorder since june, and my binges are going up to around 3 times a week, and i've put on 6 pounds. I was 120 pounds, and 5'8, just weighted my self and i'm 126 After the binge this morning, i waited for some of it to digest, then did half an hour of cardio, and 20 minutes of weights at the gym. Despite eating around 4000 calories this morning, i'm feeling a bit hungry for some extremely strange reason now!!! My mom has made some baked chicken should I have some for a small dinner, and pretend the binge this morning didn't happen? or not eat for the rest of the evening to avoid extra calories? thanks!!

You should probably talk to a professional about the binge eating problem. Do you restrict yourself from unhealthy foods otherwise? I would say just eat the dinner. You would probably make yourself more miserable skipping and set yourself up for another binge.0

Taper your eating a bit and get a grip on the reality that 5'8" and 120 lbs. is probably too thin. I think you should eat something else later today and just move on. While there's nothing wrong with eating all your calories at breakfast and skipping food the rest of the day it's probably fair to say you don't have the most healthy view of food.
You can't weigh yourself right after eating a ton of food and expect the scale to be the same. I have some days where I need over 5000 calories and it sort of goofs up my weight for a couple days but that's to be expected.
Stop obsessing over food. Eat to live. Don't live to eat. Find another way to satisfy your emotional cravings. Food is a really crappy way to cover feelings. Pick a sucky football team like the Dallas Cowboys and yell at the television. Go out for a walk. Prank call your grandmother. Make your life about more than food.0 -
You should see your doctor. He can determine whether or not there is a physical problem.
Since you have been diagnosed, I'd also suggest discussing it in therapy, which I'm sure you do.
What to do now? Log it and move on. Try harder to keep yourself feeling full on low-cal, healthy foods like lettuce, berries, etc. a full stomach is less likely to accept more food.
Good luck.0 -
You can't forget about this morning cos u have to learn from it but u can draw a line under it. U do need to eat though or your blood sugars will not be stable and you will probably binge eat again on wrong things. Go eat your chicken and enjoy.0

You just continue on like normal. Don't try to "make up" for the binge as that just starts the cycle all over again. I'm going to copy and paste my reply from a similar thread in the hopes that it will help you!
One thing I wanted to add, when I was having the most problems with binging was also when I was restricting the most. I got help because the lack of control associated with the binging scared me. I couldn't understand why I was going crazy when I had been "good" for so long.
Throughout the process of getting help, and working with my nutritionist, I found out several things. The first is that over-restriction and not eating enough for my activity level was one of the major causes of my binges. Even now, if I work out too much, I will get that same urge again. Sometimes I will be fine for a week, and then it will hit me. So now I have to make sure I eat ENOUGH, or I don't work out as much.
Another thing I learned was to make sure I had a good level of fat in my diet. Even today, I try to keep my fat around 30-40% (G-d I love peanut butter!!). This really seems to help.
I also have to make sure I get enough sleep. Sleep deprivation is a major culprit with my binges, especially if it is combined with any of the above (too little calories, too little fat, or too much exercise).
One big thing is not to try to "make up" for a binge. Because then you restrict, and workout too much, all leading up to another binge, and the cycle just goes on and on. The important thing is breaking the cycle.
I hope some of this might help you!0 -
Look at the positive side....you binge on healthy food.....0

I would go for some snacks that are healthy and measured so you have a mandatory stopping point. My favorites are tree nuts, an apple, Baby Bella cheese lite (50 cal) or trail mix. I eat a 1000 calorie bowl of fruit, nuts and oatmeal each morning. The snacking starts at 9:30, again at 10:30 noon lunch followed by a 2:30 snack. I am never hungry because of my snacking.0
