Carb Binge - EEK

So last night after working out (which seemed to go incredibly well) I was pretty exhausted. A few hours later, I binged.
It is not accurately reflect in my food log because I shift food around because I'm OCD at having my calories around 1300 per day.
It started with drinking 2 bottles of diet Dr. Pepper (yea not bright) and a jolly rancher lollipop and a big cheif beef jerky stick. (about 110 calories)
A few hours later, I'm still hungry (and probably amped up my hunger with artificial sweetners) I ate entire package of dempster thin tortillas... thats 8 small tortillas (640 calories). Around 6 I was thinking, "Hey I think thats enough, I can leave 2" but then I get this dumb mindset that somehow its okay to just finish off the pack.... Today my stomach hurts like no other... Also the night before I had a smaller binge of 4 servings of special k red berries... I'm pretty irritated about it. I'm wondering if the fact that I did not log 3 days of my excercise might have effected me. I just figure that you have to go the odd week without eating back excercise calories because what if you aren't logging 100% accurately....
Well... I'll just be here with my stomach ache....
I'm actually pretty irritated with my self.

One bingey night won't undo all of your progress. Just treat today as a new day and move on. And I hope your tummy feels better!
But you need to be honest with yourself in your diary. By not logging your binges, you have no idea of the actual amount you are overeating, you know? And maybe logging them will help you find a pattern-- you always overeat on Fridays because of Happy Hour, or always the last week of the month because of your period, or on Sundays because you hate your job on Monday morning. That might help you find the emotional source of your binges.
Being honest with yourself also goes for your exercise calories. Just log it! You can choose not to eat back your exercise calories if you don't want to for whatever reason. But you did the exercise, and you deserve to be able to see your hard work in your diary.
Good luck!0 -
I wouldn't worry about it, but are you eating well-rounded meals in addition?0

It happens to us all; don't beat yourself up too much about it. Just move on, and start logging religiously--even when you binge, to give you a full picture of what's happening.
A quick look at your diary, though, demonstrates a lot of high carb, low protein, low fat days. I know when I am low on protein & fat I feel like binging on carbs, so you might try to pay attention to that. Also, I see that you usually eat very high carb/processed breakfasts. If I start my day out like that, I ALWAYS crave carbs (& usually sugary junk) the rest of the day. This is just my personal experience, but I thought I'd share, just in case it might help you.
Get back on track & don't look back! You can do it.:flowerforyou:0 -

Probably should have clarified, everything I eat is in food diary. The only thing is I move it to the next day if I have eaten too much. I wear a heart rate moniter and burn off the foods i eat that put me over my limit (which I know is dumb). If I still have excess, I move it to another day and try and eat less/ excercise it off. It normallly takes me a few days to "make up" for my cheats but the calories aren't forgotten.0 -
Are you on here looking for sympathy? Gees, woman. So you binged one night. Get over it, start again with a healthy breakfast, and get those damn sodas and candy out of the house, and you wont have that problem.0

I will post here what I posted in another binge eating thread in the hope that it will help you.
One thing I wanted to add, when I was having the most problems with binging was also when I was restricting the most. I got help because the lack of control associated with the binging scared me. I couldn't understand why I was going crazy when I had been "good" for so long.
Throughout the process of getting help, and working with my nutritionist, I found out several things. The first is that over-restriction and not eating enough for my activity level was one of the major causes of my binges. Even now, if I work out too much, I will get that same urge again. Sometimes I will be fine for a week, and then it will hit me. So now I have to make sure I eat ENOUGH, or I don't work out as much.
Another thing I learned was to make sure I had a good level of fat in my diet. Even today, I try to keep my fat around 30-40% (G-d I love peanut butter!!). This really seems to help.
I also have to make sure I get enough sleep. Sleep deprivation is a major culprit with my binges, especially if it is combined with any of the above (too little calories, too little fat, or too much exercise).
One big thing is not to try to "make up" for a binge. Because then you restrict, and workout too much, all leading up to another binge, and the cycle just goes on and on. The important thing is breaking the cycle.
I hope some of this might help you!
TLDR version:
Eat enough calories
Don't over train
Get enough sleep
Eat enough fat
DON'T try to "make up" for binges0
