Can't lose weight! Help...

Hi everyone.... I have tried this APP a couple times to lose 10lbs. I log in everything I eat, and I log my exercise and try to stay under my calorie goal each day. I usually do that quite well, and do not always necessarily eat back my exercise points if I am not hungry. Sometimes I am, and sometime not. That being said, my goal each day is 1200calories unless I choose to eat back exercise calories. I have tried just eating whatever I normally would.. I have tried no carb.. low carb, etc..does not seem to make any difference at all. I seem to be unable to lose any weight at all, unless it is just the first 3 lbs of water weight when I first start the app, of 3 to 5 lbs after my period ends. That happens each month. So..... I am out of ideas. Any thoughts?? Oh, I am 5'7", and 149lbs. I am usually about 139, at least I was for over 10 years, but in the last year and a half I have not been able to get back there. Thanks!!

    1. Weigh food with a digital food scale. Log in grams.

    2. Eat half of exercise calories back.

    3. Eating more than you think. Log accurately.

How are you exercising? What are your macros?

All of this. You aren't in a deficit if you aren't losing.

Sounds like you are constantly trying something new/different, expecting fast results. You may need to pick one method and stick with it.

I'm 5'5.5", 39 years old, female, and right now 134. I eat 1600-1800 calories per day, walk 12k-14k steps per day. (Between intentional exercise and regular daily activities.) I'm steadily, though slowly, losing. The slowly part may be frustrating for you - but if you expect to see instant results that might be the problem.

Adjust your goal. You probably set it to lose 2 per week. Not reasonable at your body size. Change to .5 or 1. Use a digital food scale, log everything 100% accurately. And give it 8-9 weeks. Don't expect to be at your goal - but you should see some results.
  • I run three miles, three times a week and weight train on those days. The other two or three days I do an hour of hot vinyasa flow yoga.. Not to mention days that I ride my bike, walk or hike around my area etc. I usually do not even log that sort of stuff and I always underestimate the amount of calories burned in my workouts.
I over estimate what I eat if there is any doubt, and even on days I burn 400 or more calories working out, I do not go over my limit. I do not expect a miracle, but I would expect to see something working, even if it is slow and steady. Scale just goes down, then back up, down, then back up...but only by two pounds or so. That is just a normal daily fluctuation as it is.
If after two months I saw a definite decline in the numbers and the fluctuation was a few pounds but at lower numbers, I would be a bit more hopeful.
The trainer I was working with last year said I was not eating enough, and the TDEE calculation shows that I need about 2100c a day. So, if I took a 500c a day deficit from that number, I would need to be eating 1600c. That's more than I am eating now. Some days, yes.. I cheat and over eat, or have a piece of bday cake for a celebration etc, but in general my meals are well balanced, small in size, and I only eat until I am almost full.
I also take supplements daily. Tonalin CLA, 7 KETO DHEA, Pyruvate, Raspberry Ketone, Psyllium Fiber, B Complex. I am not on any prescription meds, do not take anything over the counter other than Aleve if I have back pain, or knee pain, and use essential oils for anything that might bother me like the knee pain. I am healthy, never sick, do not get the flu, etc.

How long have you been eating at a deficit/tracking & logging all your calories in (every day, even on the days that you eat over?)?

Do you use a food scale and can you open your food diary? Generally the issue begins at inaccurate logging or non consistent logging. If you are solid on both, you have to evaluate medical history and other factors.
