I mean the toned look, that definition. I'm not overweight, but I have some fat to loose around my tummy, arms, upper thighs. I don't want to look just thin - I love a body like that - which looks strong and lean. What should I be eating and how should I be exercising?
Sorry if these questions are basic, Im new to this!
Also, I'm not trying to compare myself to others etc. Nothing unhealthy.. I just dream of a similar body! Haha

There is nothing wrong with picking a body you want to acheive, just keep in mind that you may achieve that body but it could look different on your frame. And honestly the best way to acheive that is to keep eating healthy and stick with the weight loss, and most importantly start weight lifting, weight lifting is the best and fastest way to get definition, and dont worry women DO NOT get big from weight lifting.0

If you show a picture of yourself, we could see how much body fat you currently have. Some people already have her level of muscles, they just have a layer of fat on top of it. The advice to them would be to keep doing strength training and drop body fat by eating/exercising in a calorie deficit. Some people are thinner and need to add muscle to get to where she is. They have to eat at a calorie surplus to build muscle.
What to eat: make sure you're getting enough protein, keep your sodium within the recommended range (to reduce any bloating/water weight).
How to exercise: That instagram gal has some exercises on her account that are decent. You will have to lift weights to get her body. Cardio will not give you that definition. Full-body workouts are great- squats with heavier and heavier weights, deadlifts, planks, etc.0 -
I would think - lifting - cardio - healthy eating ??? little bit of hard work thrown in there
you can do it! tape the pics by your alarm clock and on your mirror - and keep them on your phone and on the fridge.
goals are good0 -
Thanks for the advice everyone!0

Do I do cardio and strength training/weight lifting simultaneously? Or do I lose all the weight I want to first?
Also what's the exact difference between strength training, resistance and weight lifting? Haha sorry!0 -
For the most part, they are different words for the same thing. Resistance/strength training is about using your muscles to move things around. Weight lifting is a specific type of resistance/strength training. I generally use "weight lifting" to refer to free weights and "strength training" to refer to weight machines but I don't think that is a hard and fast rule.
Also, that first picture has some sort of mirror effect that is making the woman looking even longer/taller than real life, I'm assuming you realize. Not to be annoying by pointing it out but it's not a completely realistic photo.
And you can do cardio and strength training. It's common to do them on alternating days until you find a different method that works for you.0 -
So squats, crunches wtc would be resistance training then?0
