Weigh-ins, Water and, um... Reading.....

I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help clear up. Should I cut off my water consumption at a certain time the day before I weigh in? I mean, if I am still drinking water up until bed time the night before I weigh in will it give me a higher weight than if I stop, say, around 7:00 or 8:00 PM?

-ALSO-

I have noticed a decrease in my... er...um... Throne Time, if you know what I mean. It used to be once a day, like clock work. Now it may be every 3rd day or so. Is this because my body is using up all that I am putting into it? Has anyone else noticed this happening? I'd like to find out, because frankly my reading has suffered and fallen behind by quite a bit. My Book-of-the Month is one up on me now.

Thanks!

I always stop drinking around 7 pm, especially the night before a weigh in.

Hahaha! I died laughing when I read this! Too funny!

But seriously, that would be interesting to figure out. I'd like to see the responses!

You should weigh in in the morning after you use the restroom and before you eat or drink anything. This will be the most accurate weight. If you are weighing in the evenings you are going to fluctuate more, as the different foods you eat on different days weigh different amounts.

    LOL, love it!!!!
Don't cut off water -- it helps your body with EVERYTHING (including the book-club issues :-)) Weigh yourself first thing in the morning, remember it, then ignore the scale the rest of the day!!! But, only update your weight on MFP once a week, otherwise you could get too frustrated with it not moving fast enough!!!!
As for as your bathroom time goes....as your body gets used to the 'new' eating, things should adjust back to normal...actually it *should* be 2x a day, so you can get one up on the book-a-month-club!!!
Best of luck to you, and keep drinking that water!!!!

I have. I was extremely regular too -- I could pretty much schedule a daily appointment for it, but now it's maybe twice a week. I figure it's because the food is being used up, but I have no idea. Hopefully someone knows -- I'm not too bothered because I'm not cramping or anything, but it's a little disconcerting.

I should mention that I weigh in only on Monday mornings, once a week. I also only update my weight immediately afterwards and not again until I do my next weigh in the following week.

Oh, well in that case no, I wouldn't stop drinking if you're thirsty. I have to stop by 7 or I am up frequently using the potty. But then you just pee it out and would actually weigh in less!
  • There's no need to stop drinking water at night unless you have nocturnal enuresis, because you are supposed to weigh-in after your morning urination and bowel movement. If you your bowel movements have decreased in frequency from regular to only every few days then you are likely just constipated and need to increase your fiber intake (try cereal, whole-grain breads, or whole-grain pasta). You may also want to take a laxative. (Most regular people will have at least 2 bowel movements per day).
