Anyone Watch Naked & Afraid?
If so, did you check out last night's Season Finale?
I will say, admittedly, that seeing someone on the show with more body fat compared to previous contestants was a bit of a shock, BUT, in order to participate, they are put through rigorous physical and mental testing. He made it through that, so obviously he was deemed fit enough to participate.
I was so disappointed in his partner! The remarks she made towards his weight and attitude towards him in general was so off-putting. They obviously had different methods of survival, but I agree that in their environment, his method of limiting his time in the harsh sun was a smart move, even if it meant he looked lazy during the day.
What did you think of last night's episode? Were you a little shocked to see a participant with that much body fat on the show? How did you feel about Honora's remarks towards him?

Yeah, saw it last night she was a hand full of crazy. He may have increased his intake before he left knowing he was going to burn through it. Mentally she wasn't ready for that I think, right after her dad death. Matt on the other hand came out like a champ. He was cool and calm through the whole thing. I was trippin how she called him lazy when he built the shelter and caught her a huge grasshopper. I just have one issue. Why didn't they start a fire? They could have boiled their water and been sitting pretty good.0

She even admitted early on that she has a tendency to over-exert herself and true to her prediction, she did.
Her remarks were completely uncalled for. He wasn't being lazy. He did exactly what a someone should do in the desert like that; don't move about during the day; don't lay in the sun like it's the beach (Is she stupid??!!), and make sure you stay hydrated.

I don't know why they didn't attempt fire to be honest! I was wondering the same thing. They had plenty of brush around and they could have made some tinder. They had the magnifying glass (so different, like the guy who brought duct tape) to help aid in starting a fire instead of a bow drill or something. It was windy but they could have easily dug a pit to combat that.
I figured he increased his weight knowing he was going to lose. Saw some photos of him on FB (is that creepy?) and I think he's pretty good looking! Not muscular, but looks thinner in his photos than he did on the show.0 -

Great episode.
This is true, she did admit that being one of her faults. It's too bad she didn't recognize that she was over-exerting herself sooner. I also think that because of her remarks towards him early on, he might not have felt comfortable speaking up and telling her to chill out and take it easier. He seemed quite non-confrontational. Although we only see what they want us to see, too.0 -
Haven't seen it yet, but I think in last weeks teaser for it, he actually commented that he was eating more to prepare for the weight he knows he will lose during the show! So that's exactly what he did. Gonna watch it tonight, dvr'd it, sounds like it will be a good one.0

The guy that brought the duct tape loved that.

It was pretty good. I was happy to see her fail, given her poor attitude. But realistically, I think she was just dealing with PMS and grief from the loss of her dad, and took her frustrations out on her partner.0
