activity level up mfp says eat less: confused

I just changed my activity level from sedentary to lightly active since i am back in the lab standing almost all day long and walking a lot too. Had my cellphone track my steps: i walk about 10km every day o.O
So well yes now i wanted to adjust my activity level. Left everything else the same. Before my calorie allowance was 1410 per day now it is 1200... i am confused... is this some kind of bug? How do i fix it? Or should i just log out and log back in? Did anyone else have this problem?

mfp did an update a couple of days ago and it has caused many bugs and that's one of them im pretty sure cause mine did that too. im trying to get out of a plateau so I have been changing my calories a bunch and today when I tried it always said 1200 no matter what activity level I put in

When I lost weight my calorie allowance went down. Could it be that? You can manually change your calorie allowance.

As you lose weight, you will need fewer and fewer calories, so it will keep going down.

Maybe there is something off! But you may want to keep in mind that your total calories per day will drop as time goes on. :)

check your goal for how many pounds to lose per week. Having it set too high is possibly the issue.
  • Thank you! :)

Well i have only lost 4 kg so far... so that probably isnt the issue... at first my goal was 1440. Then as i lost weight it dropped to 1410. But from 1410 to 1200 without a change in weight? That would be a bit much dont you think? I rechecked my goal loss per week. It is set at 0.5kg... just as it was before... i changed it to the maximum (1kg per week) just to check. And set it back to 0.5 after. No difference. Mfp allowes 1200 no matter what i do. I even changed my activity level to the highest option to see if anything changes... but nothing. Now i changed everything back lightly active and 0.5kg to loose per week... so no matter what i do now 1200 is my calorie allowance according to mfp. That doesnt make sense...

This was my first thought too. MFPs lowest default minimum is 1200. As you get closer to goal, your weekly pounds per week should change.

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.

It's been said before but I really think it bears repeating: MFP is an excellent tool for tracking. Determine your BMR, TDEE, and caloric goal (and macro goals if your want) using other resources.
  • Ok i think i found the problem. I changed my activity level using the app for my cellphone. Apparently that doesnt work very well. So now i tried changing it via the web page. That worked. Now my new goals make sense. But i think i will increase my goal loss to 0.75 now. :)
Thank you for your help everyone!

I noticed a few weeks back that mine did that too (except in LBS). I did drop a couple lbs, so MFP changed my daily calorie allowance with a 1lb/week loss to 1200. That's fine. But then I decided I only wanted to lose .5/week, and nothing changed. So I changed around my activity levels and rate of weight loss/week and it continued to stay at 1200. So I just kept the 1lb/week goal and when I checked a couple weeks later by changing my goal to .5/week it had my calories up to 1430. My vote is for a temporary bug. Check back in a day or two.
