Will Protein Make You Fat?

I know any excess calories lead to weight gain BUT if the calories come from protein sources rather than carbs, does weight gain still result? Does an abundance of protein lead to fat storage? I guess I'm just kind of lost when it comes to the molecular aspects of macros.

short answer, yes. In saying that protein is less likely to be stored as fat as your body tens to have to work harder to break it down and if you have training it will be first used to build and repair muscle fibers that have been broken down0

At the end of the day, a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. In terms of storage, your body doesn't care where it came from. If you're in excess, the second law of thermodynamics will be in effect no matter what.
Nutritionally-speaking all calories are NOT alike insofar as 400 calories of granulated sugar does not carry the micronutrients, protein content, healthy-fat content, nor fiber that you'd get from 400 calories of chicken and vegetables.
But as far as weight gain resulting from excess calorie intake, even if it's entirely from protein, the answer's a flat-out yes and not really worth further discussion without things getting really weird.0
