Hey everyone...

I often see that a serving of boneless chicken, turkey, or fish is 4 oz. I know this measurement is all about weight, but I was wondering if anyone knew how many cups 4oz of boneless meat is....I always heard about 1/2 cup but I've never been quite sure....

a food scale is the only way to be sure.. I have a digital one that i got at walmart for $17, that will let u see exact decimals. There were alot cheaper ones, but they werent digital and thought itd be harder to read and harder to convert from oz to grams and grams to mg, etc...

but the half cup of diced chicken breast seems to be about 4oz serving in a measuring cups

I know that's classic for liquid, but is it the same for solid measurements?

An easier way to measure (so you don't have to cut it up or dirty a measuring cup) is to use the rule of thumb that 4 ounces of cooked meat is about the size of the palm of your hand or a deck of cards. With meat, you're never going to get an exact weight, anyway. When you ask for a pound of meat in a deli, you rarely get 16 ounces even.

nope. theres liquid ounces is 4oz or half a cup, but dry measuring cups are still half a cup but arent the same size as liquid ounces.. and then of course you have ounces as a weight as opposed to a measurement...

Buy a food scale. They're $7 on ebay. You spend more than that a week on eating out. There's no excuse not to.

I didn't grow up in the US, but don't they teach the difference between fluid ounces and weight ounces in school or something?
