Healthy, On-the-Go Meals

So I have a serious issue of eating out. It drains my wallet and (of course) hinders my weight loss efforts.

What are some healthy, on-the-go and easy-to-prepare meals I can bring with me that won't go bad within eight hours? I am also willing to buy one of those cooler lunch boxes to preserve food that needs to be refrigerated, but I am still concerned about food going bad since I will be out for so long. Also, this isn't for going for work. This is for something more general likes running errands throughout the day. Also know that I use the bus, which adds to travel time.

Sorry to be so specific, but this is a HUGE obstacle in my every day life that has caused me to gain a lot of weight (and not being able to lose it).

For lunch today I had one of my meal preps.

Grilled chicken with onions, mushrooms, spinach
    brown rice
    1/4 baked potato.

I do the same meal with ground turkey too, sometimes I will make asparagus too with it.

Last night I made a low calorie rye wrap filled with cottage cheese, spinach, tofu and kimchi. I grilled it and now it's in an airtight container in my bag, ready to be heated up and eaten at any time I like. This can be paired with a greek yougurt tub or a piece of fruit if you are on a higher calorie diet. :)

Great idea on the lunchbox! I recommend salads of all kinds, dark leafy greens and egg salads are my favorite. With a cooler/lunchbox, your options are endless. Yogurt, cottage cheese, cooked bacon, hard boiled eggs, deli meats, veggies prepped with dips like ranch, hummus, etc. You could also take tuna, or salmon. Even cooked meats like chicken legs I'll eat cold. Especially since I cook it and know it's thoroughly cooked. Your options are as endless as the space you have in your cooler/lunchbox!!!
