Why am I so hungry.

Is it just me or is anyone noticing that they're hungrier when the seasons start changing? Last month I was satisfied on 1500 on average a day. I'm super hungry and I'm drinking just as much water. I live in Vancouver BC and it's my first fall on the coast. I'm from the prairies originally where it's maybe 5-10 degrees Celsius which would mean my body is working to keep me warm but it's 15-20 degrees here currently. I'm lost.

** Yes, I am aware that my snack choices have not been great lately in my diary however I must explain that I don't have alot of places to grab a snack during working hours and I have celiac's disease which limits me further. I recently added some nuts to my Meal 2&3 because i thought I was just craving a bit more fat in my diet but it's not helping.

Yeah its pretty common to eat more in the colder months I live on the opposite coast (Virginia) but I too find it harder to control my cravings when its colder out. And my mom has ciliacs so I know how hard it can be to find some gluten free snacks in a pinch. A few recommendations I have would be quest bars, and gluten free oatmeal by bobs red mill.

Make a bowl of rice before you go bed, cover it up, and eat that in a morning.
It will help give you a steady release of carbs over a several hour period and not hurt your calorie intake too much.
Many basic foods – such as meat, vegetables, cheese, potatoes and rice – are naturally free from gluten so you can still include them in your diet

I'm not a doctor, but it might have something to do with eating fewer calories then you burn.

I find that my carbs need to be balanced with the Proteins and fats in order to be long lasting satisfaction of hunger. I'm prediabetic so my blood sugar crashes hard and then I'm starving if I have too much carbs in a meal. Look at adjusting your macros for starters, then if that doesn't help, then see about eating more calories.

It looks like you're doing a lot of exercise. If you are burning 900 calories in exercise some days then it's not surprising that 1500 cals does not satisfy you.
  • I didn't look at your diary but I believe eating more protein will help.

Just like other animals, we have a genetic drive to put on pounds before winter when food sources are more scarce. Evolution hasn't had time to catch up to the increase in year-round food availability that has occurred in the last 100 years or so.

Rice isn't really all that much healthier than the junk food I eat when I'm hungry at work.

THIS. While our resources and access to food all year around has changed, physiologically we haven't enough to keep up with advancement.
That's why obesity is on the rise. Physiologically our bodies are VERY EFFICIENT at energy storage (fat). We just have more food available now compared to say 100 years ago. And it takes thousands and thousands of years to see evolution make a significant change.

I feel validated (not to mention part of the non-crazy club). Thanks!
