Adopt me?

Anyone willing to take on a noobie to adopt? I'm really looking for someone who is scientifically based and knows nutrition and exercise well.
A little about me:
I'm 24 years old and been overweight my whole life. When I got married, I put on a lot of weight fast and have spent the last forever yo-yoing but never getting very far. My goal is to lose 75 pounds. I love to hike and I live in the mountains so I hike on weekends. I recently got a kayak and enjoy that as well. During the week, my schedule is inconsistent and I find places to fit exercise in. I am unable to have a "every day at such and such time I do this" kind of work out. Instead, I look at what is going on each day and find a time and an exercise that I can fit in. I do not weigh my food but I am planning to buy a digital scale when my living situation stabilizes. I'm pretty motivated and have had some success so far but it's not as consistent as I want, so I'm looking for someone that is willing to help me achieve my goals.
If you want to be my mentor, let me know. I'd love to have you.
Also, nothing against you men on here, but I'm shy and prefer a female mentor

Have you been to the doctor? You should do that first! Make sure there are no physical problems (even if you're certain you can't have any.) A yearly physical is the best way to stay healthy. They can catch little things before they become big things. And EVERYONE who begins a weight loss journey should visit the doctor, as every expert and MFP itself will tell you.
Get a good goal weight, daily calorie figure, what kind of foods you should and shouldn't be eating. Get exercise limitations (or get cleared to do whatever you want.)
Then go forth, with a plan that is specific to YOU, from someone who is qualified to give you that.
This is the BEST way to start...and to take care of yourself.0 -

I had my physical like 2 weeks ago. I suppose there is more to explain.
She told me I have exercise induced asthma and gave me an inhaler which has worked wonders for me.
My blood pressure is good, my cholesterol is ideal, my blood sugar is perfectly normal. The only advice she gave me was to continue losing weight. She asked me what I was doing to lose weight and said good for you, keep it up. lol and that was it...0 -
Oh and my thyroid is good, she checked that too...0

Good for you! It's great you are owning your own health so young. I know people twice your age who aren't doing anything and their bodies are falling apart.0

My main motivation for losing weight is to go on more and bigger hiking adventures and kayaking trips! I have mountain tops in my future. And I just bought a kayak this summer and have been LOVING all the paddling excursions. :drinker:
I'm "scientific" in the sense that I'm a marine biologist... but not an MD.

I'm not a professional trainer or anything like that. But I'm a logical person, good with numbers - and finding my own success after years of the typical on again/off again tug of war.
I'm a proponent of moving more, setting goals, tracking food & being 100% honest/accurate to get results. Getting the food scale is a good plan. If you want to 'chat' thru MFP messaging, or offline email, I'm good with either.
I'm 39 so a 'few' years older. I have kids (youngest turns 13 soon, then a 14 year old & 16 year old). Married, grad student, work full time. So I know about a crazy life. I'm probably in the best 'shape' health & fitness-wise that I've ever been. I'm close to maintenance, working more on toning & strength training and less concerned with the scale # right now. Will probably stop weighing everything I eat soon, but keep logging. Its easy with the MFP app on my phone.
For most of this year I ate in the 1400-1600 range. Now 1600-1800 as I'm aiming for a smaller deficit. I figure I'll be at ~2000 for maintenance.0 -

I don't know how fat you are, but if you're really super-fat, the pounds come off pretty quickly at first. Don't discouraged when the loss slows down. Expect it to come. Keep going.0
