Hi guys. How do I know if I'm currently in starvation mode? How do I know if my metabolismic rate is normal or not? I'm 5 foot 6 inches and I've been eating on average of 800 - 1200 calories daily before exercise. Some day I took 2 big meals, and some day I took 4 smaller meals.

Hi ~ You should never take in less than 1200 NET calories a day, especially on exercise days. Your muscles, bones and body need those calories to rebuild; otherwise, it begins to feed on itself (hence, the "starvation mode"). If you're taking in 800-1200 calories BEFORE exercise, your body will begin to shut down. Add lots of lean protein and/or supplement with protein shakes to add the nutrients your body is craving.0

If you look like this...

Starvation mode isn't real. You should however be eating more than 800-1200 calories, plus eating back a portion of your exercise calories. Also, the number and timing of your meals has no bearing on weight loss.

Easy - you're not.0 -
Are you literally starving? No? Then you're not.0

It's very unlikely that you are in starvation mode.
Many say it's a myth anyway.
Even if it's real, it can't stop or reverse your weight loss, just slow it. Otherwise, anorexia would be a mystery wouldn't it! The average anorexic eats 800 calories a day. They still lose weight.0 -

I'm literally laughing over here. That was awesome.
Oh yea, OP, you're not.
Yeah, that jokes been around for awhile.
(It started when ctrl-alt-del actually did reset your PC (Windows, of course). Doesn't work anymore (try it).)0 -

Hey, now I know where they hid the "switch user" option in Win 8.1!! I was used to the "three finger salute" getting me to task manager and then I could reset from there. Haven't needed that with my new computer...YET.0 -

Good point. And I'm willing to bet most people don't use their PCs to access the Net anymore.
Which is yet another reason the "ctl-alt-del" joke falls flat these days.0 -
