Could you give up your right to privacy?

Many times I've been asked why I don't put out a video ( you can get sponsors for this) or apply for being a celebrity trainer or get on a show like the Biggest Loser, etc. because I could get more exposure, make more money and get famous.

Right to privacy is why. While all the above sounds great, to me I enjoy being another "face in the crowd". Having to act a certain way to keep your image up, being hounded relentlessly by paparazzi, any and all activities you do are documented by film, or some beat writer, etc.

Family matters are also aired out in public. As well as if you get drunk at a party, have lunch with a friend and are now having an affair, etc.

So NOT for me.

Others feel different?

I feel the same way. I am an open book, but I also don't want people in my everyday business (not that it's interesting). If you ask I will tell, but don't be nosy. I hope that makes sense.

Hahaha! No. I've seen how having affairs destroy family structures to people close to me. Not worth it IMO.

I have some relatives who are all about money (they live way beyond their means trying to impress people with material items) and commented that I'd be dumb to turn down an opportunity like that if it came up.

Yep. I couldn't stand having to walk out of my house, then all you hear are clicks from cameras or people following your every move. Then just reporting on all the "bad" and never the good things you did in the day.

I couldn't handle the judgement outsiders make on lives they can't relate to at all.

Not for me. Sometimes anonymity is a blessing.

When I look threw magazines and see how glamorous some of the celebrities are, I think how wonderful it must be to have anything that I could possibly want, and imagine how it would be not to have to worry about bills and also how great it would be to have tons of fans and such.......but......in reality, I wouldn't ever be able to handle it. It's nice to imagine but thatall definitely comes at a price. These celebrities can't even drop their kids off at school without being followed and every single detail of their lives becomes public. It would be like living in a fish bowl, having everyone looking without any privacy.
So for me, that wouldn't work out well. I enjoy my privacy :-)

    Short answer: Hellll naw!

    Background:
Back in the early-to-mid 90s (before social media, broadband, etc.) I actually was an open book to the world. I created a personal website that had my address, phone #, resume, and personal thoughts long before blogging was a thing. About 6 months later I had a "soap opera"-like dream were all of that information was used against me to completely ruin my life and those dear to me. I deleted that website the same day.

To this day, every year or two I will ego-surf Google to make sure that the remnants don't bubble up to the surface. Fortunately, this was before Google and other companies starting archiving the Internet, so I'm hopeful that no bits exists.

It depends on how much money we're talking about... but likely no.

And that's why my Facebook profile is full of bollocks.

Edit: as in nonsense posts and stupid comments and pics, not pics of scrotums.

Isn't that what happens to you when you become an MFP Moderator, though? Stinkin' paparazzi snooping with their cameras while you clean up the forums.

Nah. I just clean up, post on whatever threads I want to, then take care of my other bizness.
