Last Monday we did some really good running, and then Tuesday was cardio, Wednesday I didn't get to play, and Thursday a friend of mine and I went for a brisk walk, no gym class that day.
So on Wednesday and Thursday I noticed some really sharp pain inbetween my right ankle and the bottom of my foot, I know there's a tendon in there somewhere. Well Thursday when we walked OMG, every so often Id get this shooting pain, enough to make me jump and yell about it. We had walked way back on the back of a golf course on a trail so we had to go back, and I took it easy but the entire time we were out it did this...so I took it easy this weekend went without my shoes a much as I could....and I thought I was feeling better.
Today walking around the office in my not even 2 inch high work shoes I'm feeling the pain again...sharp stabbing pain in that area.
So.....do I go to bootcamp tonight and basically not be able to do anything....it's cardio night, or do I see when I can get into the doc. I know they are gonna tell me I sprained it, and there's nothing I can do except to rest it. But I did rest it Friday -Sunday I rested it. And I'm not gonna quit going to the gym for a whole week, that **** smarts when I go back.
Anyone have any advice?

I had a pain that sort of sounds similar to yours. It basically went away after a week. I skipped my runs but still lifted. I ended up seeing a Sports Medicine practitioner but it was healed by then and he didn't see anything notable.
Try stretching out your calves and see if that has any effect.0 -
Look up posterior tibial tendinitis and see if that sounds similar.
I'm actually going through the same thing right now and even though it's not that bad of a pain, the advice out there seems to be to NOT do anything high-impact or that involves a lot of ankle stability work for at least a week. You can really exacerbate it and turn it into a serious problem. I'm just going to bike, lift, and use the row machine and not run or do any aerobics classes for a week.
Can you wear flat shoes if your heels make it hurt?0 -
Make sure you are wearing shoes with good support -- both when exercising and not. If you are wearing inexpensive walking or exercise shoes, hit up the Dr. Scholl's display for some good sturdy arch support. Don't look for more cushioning in your shoes because this can make them even less stable.0

You might try these Franklin Balls.. they help my feet ... I walk, hike and sometimes run.. so my feet get cranky..

Sounds like the dreaded Plantar Fasciitis.0

Is it on the outside of your foot, under the ankle bone?0

Listen to your body. If it hurts, there is probably a reason.
Just dont do what I did. My ankle hurt. I figured I just sprained it. Still hurt from time to time after a few months. It eventually got better. Ish. Then it started to hurt again. Then got better. Lather, rinse, repeat for 10 years. So I go to a podiatrist and get an MRI. Turns out that all those fancy ligaments in my ankle are now nothing but scar tissue.
Inoperable. So now I have to deal with it forever.
The moral of the story... take it easy for a while and see your doctor!0 -

I looked it up and this looks like the spot, there's no pain above my ankle, but I get it. The tendon has to attach somewhere.
I also tend to walk on the outsides of my feet, I've done this since I was little bitty. I think it's letting me know now that I've chosen to run. Thanks!!!!!!

It could be your Peroneal Tendon. It runs down the lower outside of your leg, right under your ankle bone and into the arch of your foot. Look it up and see if that would be the cause of your pain. I've been dealing with mine for about a year now, from overuse. Physical therapy helps. They work on strengthening the larger muscles around the peroneal muscles so that they aren't overworked.0 -
A few years ago, I had a round of plantar fasciitis. There were a couple of things that seemed to help.
1) Take a longer warm up & cool down
2) Soaking my feet in a tub of ice water (mostly water, some ice) for 10 minutes or so after exercise. That seemed to reduce the inflammation considerably.
Certainly not a cure all, but might help get some relief temporarily.0
