New here and need support

My name is Christine and I am new to this and need any support possible. I am 37 and have had some medical and personal issues in the past few years so the weight has slowly been added. I hose to make the choice to do something for myself and get heathy, I have a goal weight in mind but am strictly gping on whe i feel good. I have lost 9lbs and about 12 inches in the past 3 weeks and am excited to keep going.

I am up early in the morning for work and usually in bed early, so as soon as I get home from work i exercise, usually 45-60 minutes. I do pilates for 20 which helps stretch me out and then i do the rest on my XL Glider (sort of like an eliptical) that works both legs and arms.I have noticed that i get tired at a point and as long as i push through it, I can keep going much longer.

Looking forward to getting some friends and support on here.

Thank you

Hey there! I am also starting out (again). I've lost track on how many times I've started. I used to do WW online and have switched to this because it is free. So far I've lost 2.2 pounds in two weeks. First week didn't go so well. I am following an exercise program for beginners so I work out about 30 mins a day and it tells me how many calories I've burned. I already feel better but still have to force myself to watch what I'm eating and exercising every day. Last week was a good week for me! I exercised all 7 days - the 7th was a great recovery workout, and I was careful with my eating - choosing a dessert I wasn't interested in when having dinner with friends (dessert was for kids) and not buying that king size candy bar I usually buy on Friday nights. I will view that as a huge accomplishment. I did treat myself to a DQ blizzard on Sunday night, but I think of it as I need to splurge a little otherwise I overeat! It gives me something to look forward to and something to be good for all week.

    Hi Christine
I started back about 4 weeks ago. I did really well last year using MFP, but like you life got a bit stressed and I stopped tracking and went back to eating what I wanted when I wanted it.
Sounds like you are doing great so far, so keep at it. I don't deprive myself of anything, just if I eat it I know I have to pay it back with some form of exercise. I get up early and was going for a walk/run first thing, but now winter is closing in its too dark in the morning, so Im trying to do my workout during my lunch break as am too tired in the evening.
    Good luck!

Its so nice to know that everyone here has had the same struggles and can support each other. Im not looking at this as a diet at all, i think of it as a lifestyle change and thats the pnly way its going to work and i keep it up. I have an office job so its a lot of sitting, so each hour i try and walk around for 5 minutes or so, it adds up. And I also plan out my snacks through the day that keep me full so I dont bunch out of boredom.

Good luck to everyone else :)

Good choice to come to MFP! Being accountable in some way is a really good start. I look forward to logging my food and exercise on the site, being honest about food, weight and state of mind all matters. see you out here!
