No food is healthy or unhealthy by itself (except maybe transfat). You have to look at it in the context of your overall diet, health, and goals.
For instance, a diet composed entirely of olives would be unhealthy, because you're missing out on important nutrients.
But yes, olives certainly can be a part of a healthy diet, imo.0 -
Agree completely. You have to look at everything in context. You certainly could make olives part of a balanced diet if you wanted. yes ! Olives are a good source of calcium, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin K, olives also provide some magnesium, phosphorous and potassium. Though viewed as high in fat, it's the "healthy" monounsaturated fat. I eat a handful of pitted kalamata olives almost every night. A nice sweet & savory snack is a handful of olives with a handful of red seedless grapes and a tablespoon of feta cheese.0
