Does the body naturally detox when you begin eating healthier options, and cut out the rubbish? I'm three days in, and I feel sluggish, (though last night with the family we ate out and I joined in) heavy, and exhausted. I had the flu three weeks ago, so I initially thought my energy levels were just taking a while to return to normal. But I seem to remember, in periods when I began eating better, it took about a week of staying on track to feel better. Do other people experience this as well? Thanks in advance!

your organs are constantly "detoxing." Chances are you are reacting to reduced sugar intake. There really is no need to omit foods if there are no illnesses or diseases present, as weight loss is all about eating at a caloric deficit. So just keep that in mind... eating "healthy" =/= automatically losing weight.0

thanks for having an open diary. In my humble opinion, your calories are too low dear. That might account for your fatigue. I have no opinion on the whole "detox" thing. Some here will tell you it is "rubbish", others say no.
Hoping you feel better soon.0 -
Thanks for the reply. Detox may not be quite the right word. It's just that the first few days of eating healthy, I feel horrible, and then, one day, I don't. I'm not really wanting to eliminate anything altogether, as I don't feel it would be sustainable for me, and I've got to make this a lifelong change. I want to learn moderation, which is something I can stick with.0

I get that message from the app telling me my calories are too low, and I get frustrated. I feel like I'm not hungry, and I'm eating just for the sake of meeting the calorie goal, but then again I'm still recovering from the flu and my appetite isn't quite normal. That's why I'm back on the multi, until things are a bit more nutritionally sound.0

You are
It's a minimum level not a maximum
Give yourself time, I kept eating under at the start for the same reason I was just full and didn't see the point, but then after a couple of months it started to hit my energy for workouts so I made a concerted effort to eat more, that became easier, now I'm trying to get a little more control again...it's a constant fine tuning balancing act but I suppose this is what will keep it off when I hit maintenance
As for detox...see how you feel after a week or so and if you've pinged back then possibly that's how your body reacts to eating healthier0 -
I'm feeling more like myself now, except a bit more energetic.
One week to the day since I started, and the fog has lifted. Thanks for the advice!
