Coffee

I have been trying to lose weight and I am a regular coffee drinker. I usually have 1-2 cups every morning. I was wondering if coffee is good or bad for weight loss.. I have heard mixed reviews on this so I was unsure. I know cream and sugar is bad but I was wondering about the coffee. I would like to have a cup but not if it is bad for me and my weight loss. Can anyone help?

I think the big issue with coffee is the additives: cream, sugar, flavorings. I cut out the sugar and reduced the amount of cream and I lost weight and still drank coffee. Just count the calories you are adding to it. You may need to drink a little extra water, but other than that it shouldn't hurt you weight loss

I sincerely doubt coffee in itself has any effect on fat loss. It is a mild diuretic though.0

Coffee is fine. Caffeine has been found to promote weight loss. Just watch what you put in it, that's where the calories come from. But it doesn't really matter as long as it fits in your calorie goals. Weight loss is a deficit. You can eat/drink whatever you want as long as you adhere to calories in vs. calories out.
I personally take my coffee with liquid stevia and sugarfree coffeemate creamer.0 -
I don't think you need to label coffee as good or bad. Just count the calories in whatever you add to it and you'll be fine. Specific foods don't help or hinder weight loss.0

Coffee itself has about 4-6 calories per serving, so as far as impacting weight loss, coffee by itself does not really have much of an effect. As stated above, it has more to do with cream/sugar added. I can't live without my coffee, so I add Equal to mine in the mornings, and regular half & half. I measure my half & half, and work the calories into my day. It has not hindered my weight loss so far.0

There are no good or bad foods. Yes, some foods are more nutritious or healthier, but no food is bad. Every "bad" food can be made to fit into one's meal plan as they see fit.
As for coffee, if you enjoy it drink it. If you put cream or sugar in it, measure and log them. I drink coffee everyday, but I log it so I know what else I can fit into my day to keep me at my calorie goal.0 -
I take my coffee with 1/4 cup of 2% milk and 2 tbsp of delicious, flavored creamer. But I'm of the opinion that no food is inherently good or bad by itself (except maybe transfat). What matters is how that cup of coffee and its additives fits into your day and whether or not it helps you reach your goals.0

I have a single k cup w/ HWC and Davinci SF Syrup in the morning and evening and i don't feel it has impeded my progress. Have more on weekends either hot or cold DIY frappi.0

Coffee is my friend! There is no way I'd give up coffee for anything, so I make sure that my coffee with the two tablespoons of creamer I put into it fits in my daily goals. As long as it fits in your daily goals, there is no need to give it up.0

I drink coffee with a little half and half every day and it hasn't hindered anything. It's only about 64 calories for the amount of creamer I use so it's not like I'm drinking a calorie bomb every morning. If I were having a 400 calorie latte then yes, that could mess me up if I didn't adjust the rest of my day for it.0

One cup a day is fine for me as long as this is the cup I use.

I like to drink coffee but have noticed that it increases my craving for carbs. I have an antidote for this craving which is usually just a big handful of raw cherry tomatoes or a green smoothie. For me, adding sugar to coffee enhances the stimulating effects but results in a harder crash later. As an adrenal stimulator, coffee causes more fatty acids to be dumped into your bloodstream which helps give you a boost of energy, but if you don't use up those fatty acids they just circulate around and could cause inflammation, and get re-deposited back into your fat cells. Coffee can be consumed pre-workout to boost performance on endurance exercises because of the extra fatty acids circulating in the blood stream.0
