I am 5'8 and am now at 163, I started at 294. The charts say I should be between 121-150 to be in the "normal" range,I think I still look "big" and want to weigh 135lbs, my Dr. said I am fine and they are recalculating the weights on most of theem. Ladies 5/8-5'9 what is a "slender" weight for you?

It's useless to compare yourself to other people, even if they are your height, because everybody has a different build.
Is your frame small, medium, or large?
Here's a weight chart by frame: http://www.healthchecksystems.com/heightweightchart.htm.
This one says between 126-167 is healthy for women of your height. Just find where you fit in and make that your goal.0 -
My understanding was that for a woman 5' 8" the appropriate range is 130-150.

Thank you, That sounds about right. At 167 or 163 (depends on the day) I still look fat inmo.0

Unfortunately, one's perception of their self generally doesn't change with their weight loss success. And since you are your own critic, that may never change. But hell, I know women who are 18% body fat who still have fat days.
Charts are only one indicator of your approximate health. I wouldn't hold too much value in them.0 -
I'm just about 5'10" and currently at 161 and to be honest don't know what a "slender" weight would be for me. When I was young I always hovered between 140-145 and thought I was fat :noway: now I just know I wasn't toned. If all my flabby bits magically overnight turned to muscle and I weighed the same but had a smaller clothing size or was just smaller/tighter I would be happy. The number on the scale is kind of arbitrary at this point. That being said, I have wide (not big boned) hip bones from left-to-right wise and am a wee bit jealous of all those gals out there who don't weigh that much less than me and are in a size 4. Don't think I'll ever fit into that, but hey, I would be totally happy in a 8/10 seeing as how I was barely fitting in 16s and now am thrilled to be getting back into 12s!0

Do other people still think you look fat or are you focusing on one problem area that very well me genetic or loose skin?
Our body images take time to adjust, you've done amazing, maybe concentrate on fitness and maintenance for a few months and then reassess what your goals are.
Amazing results! Keep up the amazing work! You Rock!!!0 -
Congrats on you weight loss. That is incredible. I am 5'8 and currently weigh 139. I think I look slender/athletic and am happy with my current weight. I'm shooting for 135 lbs, but only b/c I want some wiggle room at Thanksgiving:)0

Your weight charts are wrong
The healthy range for a 5'8 woman goes up to 165lbs and that's at average build
I'm 5'8 and I would look awful at 150
I'm aiming for 165 but I actually look pretty good now and I still have 15 lbs to go
It depends on your own perception I suppose0 -
I'm just over 5'7" and weigh 122 lbs. I'm at 17% body fat. I look what other people say is very thin. I probably need to regain about 10 lbs, 135 was my best weight.0

At 5'8 I weigh 153 and a size 4.. the chart I go by says 121-165 which is a big difference but that 144 is recommended. . That is actually the number I was already aiming for.. but at around 160 I don't think I looked fat either..0
