Eating calories I have burned..please help!

I am on day 4 of using the myfitness pal app. I'm slightly confused. I'm trying to lose at least one pound per week. Yesterday I put in my calories and the app increased my calories for the day. So today my calorie limit is 1880 I Ate 1740 of those. I earned 1365 exercise calories. So now it states I have 1505 calories remaining. If I eat those 1505 calories , will I lose weight .
Please help???

What did you do to burn 1300+ calories? That sounds highly unlikely.0

I have just come back from a 75 minute training session with a personal trainer, wearing a heart rate monitor I got 638 calories ...I would eat back about 70% of them...I sweated buckets and worked hard
What on earth did you do to earn that many ? MFP overestimates cut it in half ...but that's still a lot0 -
Agreed - that sounds very high for exercise burn! Be careful about logging incidentals like cooking, cleaning and the like as those are somewhat accounted for even at a sedentary setting. Just log actual intentional exercise/activity.
Most MFP exercise calorie burns tend to be a bit high anyway so ony plan on eating back around half to 2/3rds.0 -

Simple. What is your calorie intake daily? I know what works for me is not to eat back all of those calories because like any app it's not on target.0

How did you get the calorie burn? The machine? MFP?
You should invest in a Heart Rate Monitor, they're relatively cheap and quite accurate.0 -
To do MFP as intended you would eat back the exercise calories. However you need to be accurate with the amount of calories you're entering. I would eat back some of those calories, but no more than half since that number is so extreme.0

MFP inflates numbers. Look for a second opinion. Calorie burns depend upon height, weight, age, gender, exertion level & more. Look for something that considers lots of data. A HRM (heart rate monitor) is good for steady state cardio....elliptical would qualify.

They're *fairly* accurate, but it still safer to assume it overestimates. Especially if it's on an exercise you've been doing for a long time.0

90 Min on the elliptical only comes up as 1090 but i like to think of these as estimations because this doesn't account for how fast you are going on it or the resistance used so i wouldnt eat back any more than 300 -400 calories of exercise regardless of how much you burn. and your daily intake already is high 1800 cal is plenty of food for a woman, even if you are very tall, so i would check the accuracy of that aswell. im 5'5 179 pounds and try to eat no more than 1500 cal a day with exercise and 1200- 1300 without, that works OK for me but i still need to cut back. and never add in cleaning chores etc.0

I was thinking 1880 was a lot of calories. These are the calories that MFP gave me to lose at least 1 pound per week. I was really unsure about how net calories work and exercise calories. This is all new to me. I most definitely want to lose weight and not gain anymore.0

I agree with what everyone else said about how easy it is to overestimate calories burned from exercise, so be careful with that.
This is just my personal experience, but the calories that MFP estimated for me to maintain my weight must be a little too high. I'm very accurate with measuring and weighing food, and I do maintain my weight. But I also exercise very hard 5-6x per week, and I only eat the base calories recommended by MFP, not the ones I "earned" from exercise. When I eat more than the base number, I start to gain, so if I really ate my totals including exercise, it would be too much for me. My goal is just to maintain, not lose, but I would expect the same principles to apply and that I *would* lose since I'm eating less than recommended. I just mentioned all that to say that the formula may not be exact for everyone. Since you are new, you may have to experiment and adjust based on how your body responds.
