Med Free and Weight Loss After Hyst and DX of Fibromyalgia

I'm 33 (34 in May) and growing up I never had to really fight to stay thin. After the birth of my SECOND child I was 112 lbs. That was when I was 23. Then the problems started. Hormones slowed down, I was dx with endometriosis, and I was in a really bad and abusive marriage so my stress levels were high. Well, I got rid of the bad marriage at 29. My weight was then 120lbs (and I'm now married to my happily ever after). At 31 I had to finally give in and have a total hysterectomy. I opted against hormones. I was working out vigirously and was at 135 lbs. (Do you see where I'm going with this? Weight just keeps creeping) By the begining of 2010 I was spent. We have 5 kids together from ages 7-13. We both wear many hats and our kids are very involved in everything. So, hectic schedule, eating on the go, no time to work out, no sleep, no energy..........blah blah blah. Vicious cycle. By the end of 2010 I found myself sitting in a rheumatologist office. I couldn't stand to be touched. I could barely walk. So sleepy, but could never fall asleep. Took him all of 5 mins to dx me with fibromyalgia. Now, do I believe this condition is real? Yes. Do I really think I have it after spending the past 6 months trying to self-heal? No. I think it's an easy way for docs and pharmacuticals to dismiss female chronic pain. I recently read that there is a strong connection between women who have had total hyst due to endo and fibro. I don't believe that to be a coincidence. I also understod that once our ovaries were removed that we no longer produced estrogen. I was wrong. The body produces in fact 3 types of estrogen. The first is what makes a woman a woman. It fades and falls off after puberty. The second is the one that we are all familiar with. It actually helps aid in fat storage (the healthy kind), It spills from our ovaries and is why we store fat in out hips and butts. Then there is the third source. It comes from a gland located under the kidneys. Well, once the two first sources are gone the third takes over. So, now you have fat stored in your lower body AND fat starts to store in your abdomen. Now I have small bone structure, not much of a torso. I stand tall at 5'1" and here I am now.......weighing 155. So, it has happened. I've been asked if i was pregnant. What I LOVE is when I say no and people look at me like I'm joking and say yes you are! (If I was I'd be very very wealthy right now seeing that I'm missing the main components to make that all happen)
I've decided to take control back. Not just so that I can fit back into my two piece and look good. I want to look and feel good from the inside out.
Last week I changed my diet NOT dieting!! They way we eat should be a lifestyle not a temporary fix. This week, I've added my work out. At the least an hour for 5 days a week. Already I'm sleeping better and feeling better. I will lose this weight and I will look and feel better than ever and my family will also along with me. Are there any others out there like myself? Post menopausal and/or Fibro? What's your story and how are you secceeding?

I'm 55 and have Fibromyalgia (56 in May  ), I am not yet considered menopausal  , I still have my ovaries, I don't have endometriosis, I'm not on hormones (have off and on in past years, not for several years now). I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia since approximately age 43 and was previously diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome at age 32 (They are very similar, I think possibly the same disease). Yes, I have chronic pain. Yes, I take medications for my fibromyalgia. I gained 50 lbs in 1 year when I first started taking them, have since lost about 40 lbs and then gained back another 15 lbs, so a balance of 25 lbs to lose now. Oh, I only have 1 child. I deal with chronic pain, chronic stress; I have a wonderful spouse, but not my first husband or the father of my child; oh, and yes, I do work. I am 5' 4", and have a small frame. Just, FYI, in your quest for information. I wish you the best in your journey with your weight loss and your chronic pain.I'm 33 (34 in May) and growing up I never had to really fight to stay thin. Wow! Thanks for sharing. How are you able to manage taking meds and fighting the weight? Within a week of me originally starting Lyrica I blew up! I know that there are a couple of other options (anti-depressants) I fought really hard to get off of Effexor. I was on it for about a year after my Hysterectomy. I also have found that cutting out or at least limiting some of the trigger foods has helped.0

Hi, Im Cathy from Alabama. I also have fibromyalgia. I've had it for 10+ years. Normally I can keep it mostly in control but I have a back injury about a year ago and It has just amplified my back pain. But I am going to PT currently trying to improve my ability to move around and possibly one day atleast walk to exercise. I had to quit my job (which I loved) about 8 months ago and I miss it terribly. Being a stay at home gal is not for me.
I would love to be your friend and compare notes. And yes I have taken all the meds you mentioned and then some. I will friend you.l0 -
