Neither. I use a HRM because the MFP exercise estimator has always been crazy wrong for me.

But if you can't get one or don't want one, always stick with the lower number.

The entries in MFP have no idea your level of effort during a Zumba session; you're getting an average. Any number it gives you has the potential to be wildly inaccurate, either over or under. If you are eating back your exercise calories, and the Zumba entry is off by a significant margin, you might be negating your calorie deficit for the day which means that over the long haul you won't lose much weight.

If you're planning to do Zumba, or a similar cardio workout, on a regular basis, I'd highly suggest purchasing a heart rate monitor. It will be the most accurate tool for measuring your calorie burns during a cardio workout.

Heart Rate Monitors are the best. I would suggest a chest strap version over the wrist ones. If you have an iPhone or Android phone many HRMs can sync with apps on your phone then link with MFP.

Until you are able to get a heart rate monitor, I would google an algorithm to help you better assess your calories burned in the mean time. I use UP24 by Jawbone. It is a band that syncs with myfitnesspal and I absolutely love it
