OP, I've seen the post on pinterest you're referring too. If you hunt around, you may find a pin titled "Halloween Snacks that don't involve candy", I forget what the actual pin looks like, but it will link you to a page with all kinds of festive foods.

Or you could take a healthier dessert recipe (something from chocolatecoveredkatie, maybe) and garnish it with some seasonal candies, then you get something a little healthy and a little traditional

    Perfect! Thanks!

I think it's great that they have started making Cadbury Eggs for sale around Halloween time. Once a year just wasn't enough. I get one once a week when I get groceries. Only 150 calories and stems the craving for awhile.

    exactly!! So good!
  • I like candy corn. No vegetables or fruit compare to candy corn. As far as healthy Halloween treats go, the only thing I make that's not super sugary or fattening is popcorn balls.

I LOVE me some candy corns! Other than those, halloween candy doesn't do much for me.

I love Cadbury Crème eggs- that's a lot of yummy in only 150 calories.
  • it is only out one time a year so yeah I'm all for candy corn.

It's actually out year-round, in the "bigger-bag" candy section of any Walgreens or grocery store, but it only really tempts me during the Halloween season.

how about a caramel apple that has been dipped in nuts? Or the individual creme eggs you can buy at the drugstore. I've done both and they do quiet my sweet tooth.

There are only three candies I cannot pass up

    1. Cadbury chocolate filled eggs
    2. A chocolate orange
    3. Buttered popcorn jelly belly's.

I always have candy in the house, and if I don't, I have PB2 or Just Good Stuff dry chocolate peanut butter, which I will make two tablespoons and eat it right off the spoon, with absolutely no guilt! My restriction for the candy is that it has to be dark chocolate with 73% or higher natural cocoa. The link below is a pin combining the best of both worlds making a healthy Reese's Peanut Butter protein cup! Also, i dip sliced bananas in peanut butter and unsweetened cocoa, sprinkle granola, and freeze! Just as good as ice cream.

Here in Ohio we make buckeyes which is a peanut butter & confectioners sugar combo dipped in chocolate... AMAZE-BALLS but about 150 calories a piece! Just like the Reese's anything, oh boy sinful and can't stop with it... LOVE LOVE LOVE PB!

Granola is a great idea and I've got a new gluten-free cookbook from America's Test Kitchen Iv'e been wanting to try out...

I like the idea of chocolate mousse or pudding with sprinkled chocolate anything... maybe granola? Here goes our sugar intake, ugh!!! :explode:

Candy corn is an abomination in the eyes of all other candies. Some people mix it with peanuts, but all that does is ruin the peanuts.

I eat small peices of candy almost every day. I just moderate all my normal food intake and have no worries.

Candy corn is a type of corn, thus a vegetable and is healthy.

Now I really want candy corn.

I love caramel apples and candy apples , and my local farmers market since we just had apple festival still sells them! They're so tasty and the highlight of fall and Halloween for me. Forget pumpkin spice everything, give me a caramel apple

Caramel Apple Pops are only 60 calories each. They're good every once in awhile, but not so good that you want to eat multiple suckers in one sitting.

I used to hate candy corn as a kid and used to throw them away in anger.

Now I  candy corns so hard!

The great thing about having kids is that when they go to bed, you get to steal their Halloween candy. And they don't even notice the difference.

My husband asked me not to buy Halloween candy until it's actually Halloween (he'll eat the whole bag in one sitting)... I can neither confirm nor deny that there is or will be a secret stash.

Houses that give out King Size snickers are the holy grail of halloween candy.

Do you know how many poor kids cross the tracks and venture into zip codes they aren't from to try to achieve this Halloween achievement?

+1 on the kid candy pilfering

+2 on the husband who won't let me buy candy. Just because he has no self control, doesn't mean the rest of us should suffer....

Also - I do not like candy corn. I am feeling the need to confess this today. Carry on.
