Hi,
I am not majorly overweight but would be happier if i lost 7 - 14 lbs but i am really struggling to even lose 1lb. I am always hungry and can eat up to 3500kcal daily regularly and just about feel full. I suppose I am lucky in the sense that I do not gain any weight but really wast to lose some weight but nothing seems to work for me

Do you use a food scale so that you can accurately track your calories?0

My general tips for hunger:
1. Make sure your calorie goals are actually set appropriately. Way too many people cut down to drastic calorie levels who don't need to and their body is trying to tell them something important. Don't skip this step.
2. Look for foods higher in protein, fat, and fiber. These help us stay full and more satisfied longer.
3. Drink plenty of fluids. Some people really do confuse thirst and hunger.
4. Get plenty of rest. Sometimes our bodies look for food when they're exhausted.
5. Play around with your meal timings. Some people do really well on 5-6 small meals a day and others feel like they want to gnaw their own arm off eating like that. Skipping breakfast, eating breakfast, 16:8 fasting, 6 small meals, 3 larger meals, snacks, no snacks, meal timing won't make a big difference to your weight loss, but it may help your hunger levels, mood, concentration, gym performance, etc. throughout the day. Don't be afraid to try a different way and see if it helps.
6. Wait it out. If you know you're eating enough and the other steps above aren't helping, you may just have to wait it out. Our bodies send out hunger signals partially out of habit. If you eat at a certain time every day your body will start to get hungry at that time. The good news is that these signals can be retrained to stop telling you to be hungry all the time. The bad news is that you may just have to wait it out and be hungry for a little bit while that happens.0 -
Maybe open your diary and people can see what you are eating. 3500cal a day sounds very high to still be expecting to lose weight on. How do you know you are creating a deficit?0

If you always feel hungry, eat smaller things around the clock. I basically eat six times a day and still hit my calories. If your body is telling you it needs fuel, then fuel it...just don't eat big portions.0

Hey Dianne- This is great information. I am fuming, irritable, and hungry right now- me thinks PMS. lol But, I am always hungry too-- anytime- timing your eating; I need to do this! Thanks so much.My general tips for hunger:

What are some foods that are good and high in protein that would help? I have a hard time finding things because I am lactose intolerant and I am allergic to eggs. Any help anyone could suggest would be appreciated.0

nuts, tuna, meat?0 -
Peanut butter, chicken, most meat in general
I don't know how lactose intolerant people do with yogurts, some can tolerate and some can't, but the greek yogurts are a good choice if you can eat it0 -
Thanks everyone for your advice, think im going to have to wait it out and try and distract myself.
999tigger, I am defiantly not in a deficit which is why I am not losing weight but I find it hard to get a deficit without constantly feeling starving.0 -
What's wrong with feeling hungry?
Someone said that to me when I started this journey and I realised that I was being an idiot
A lot of the time "hunger" was boredom or thirst ..so I started to drink more water and consider when I'd just eaten, how does this feel? Is it going to kill me? Am I truly hungry
I looked at it as a re-education
It's worth a shot ...I don't feel gnawing cravings any more, unless it's just before my period
There's nothing wrong with the feeling i0 -
When I'm feeling hungry and its not actual boredom, It is usually because I haven't had enough nutrient dense foods that day. First I drink a lot of water, then if after 15 minutes I'm still feeling I'm hungry I have peanut butter and apples, great filler snack.0

I agree with Diane ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. But another thought is that when you don't have much to lose----that last 10-15 lbs---- it's really slow going and takes time and patience. Don't give up. Best.0

I wish I could tolerate yogurt but I cannot. They have some lactose free yogurts but they are hard to find here. I have yet to see a lactose free greek yogurt though. That's the one item I really miss. Yogurt! Thank you for the other suggestions though!0
