Is sesame oil as healthy for us as olive oil?

Hi Everyone,
Hope you are having a good day : )
I am guessing sesame oil is good as it is fairly natural and pure, but I may be wrong!
Any advice from the oracle?
Thanks,
Lou

Unrefined sesame oil has a fairly low smoke point so I wouldn't use it for frying foods for example. It would be fine for making salad dressing though. If it is toasted sesame oil you have it is quite good for drizzling a little over cooked noodles.0

I doubt it, but it is the tastiest oil there is.0

The healthfulness of a particular food needs context and dosage for it to be assessed properly. As far as an oil on it's own is concerned. it's a pretty decent oil when bought unrefined, as is olive oil and it's really a preference thing. Sesame oil contains almost half of it's fat from polyunsaturated fat, which may sound great, but should really never be heated when an oil has this much of it. Olive oil has 10x the vitamin E if that's important, but I consume both, just not in the same quantities.0

Many thanks to all of you for your helpful tips! I am using pure raw sesame oil from Abu Dhabi. It is great to learn about the polyunsaturated oil content, that I shouldn't use it to fry, (I have been using it raw on spaghetti) and that olive oil has loads more Vitamin E. I agree that sesame oil tastes lovely. Nutty and rich! Thanks, guys. I always learn so much on this forum.0

Just for the info: if you have raw olive oil you can't fry with that either. We went to the press yesterday to get our year's worth of olive oil. Freshly pressed olive oil has an unmistakable tang to it, almost as if it's been spiked with chili. It's also dark green in color, but settles into a lighter more translucent green with time. If you get your hands on freshly pressed olive oil make sure to keep it in a tightly sealed container that does not allow light in. Light makes it lose its color and unmistakable aroma with time.0

Thanks! By the way, is rape seed oil unhealthy? I found that my feta cubes are packaged in this, with herbs.0

I would eat the oil already packaged already with the feta cubes, but I do not buy it to cook.0
