Pain and comfort eating

So, about 3 weeks ago I hurt my ankle and haven't been able to see a Dr. about it due to lack of funds (its our slow season at work). I haven't been able to stay off it (work, school, 3 yr old, etc.), so instead of healing, its just getting worse. Now I normally don't comfort eat (not for emotional comfort at least) but I've found myself eating a lot just because it distracts me from the pain. And I'm not talking a little pain, I've had both knees and both shoulders out of socket before, this is worse.I had plenty of broken bones, and this is worse. I've even had head injuries, and this is worse. I also have a stomach condition, so I try to take as few pain pills as possible, and then always with food. So its not like I can just medicate myself and quit eating.
Anybody have suggestions? Been in a similar situation?
Yes, I will go to the Dr. I just won't have money for that until after the 4th.

I would talk to your doctor and see if they would accept payment after the 4th and check you out now. It's best to not let things like that go. If your doctor won't then keep checking around...any doctor worth anything understands people have troubles.0

I definitely agree. A lot of doctors offices accept payments, or payment at a later date. I would definitely ask, because it sounds like it really needs to be looked at.0 -
Every once in a while I'll take a wrong step and my ankle would just ache for weeks, I have stress fractured and hairline fractured many times before, and I only went to the dr the first time to get my walking cast, as that's probably all theyll give you anyway, along with directions, to alternate ice and heat packs and keep it elevated if possible...
If you can and it's that kind of pain, see if anyone has a walking cast they're not using that you can borrow, that extra support could help the problem from getting worse until you get to the dr.
I live everyday in pain and I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy, but it has made me the strong and capable woman I am now, I easily could have given up like many, but I chose to live life, not watch it from a distance!!0
