Hi All,
I've decided to change the way I eat for good and have opted for a low carb option. I'm full of ideas for lunch and dinners, but am really struggling with breakfast. Probably doesn't help that I grew up in a household where the only option for brekkie were sugary cereals or toast...

You might want to consider posting to the low carb and keto boards here on MFP.
Meanwhile, many options exist:
Eggs
bacon
ham
sausage
steak
spinach
cheese
mushrooms
broccoli
cauliflower
Pretty much anything you eat for dinner you can eat for breakfast
I personally have a green chile/cheese and egg bake scheduled for this morning.

Morning
I have had great result by opting to go low carb although i do struggle in what some people say is lo carb, I have had eggs for breakfast but in the week i do have porridge i know its not low carb but i account for the carbs in my daily quota and i find it sustains me right through till lunch and id rather have the carbs in the morning and then all day to burn off.0 -
I have shifted to smoothie breekie now to go low carb. This also helps me add lots of veggies and fruits. I also add one scoop full of protein powder so I feel full for long. Mix and match ingredients from the list below :
- Must - protein powder
- fresh fruits
- Coconut water
- Almond milk
- yogurt
- Chia seeds
- flax meal / LSA
- vital greens powder
- Spinach / kale / celery /
- Carrots/ beetroots/ bottlegourd
- soaked oats / quinoa if you want to make it filling
Anything you like!! Get creative and trust me you will start loving them
If not smoothies, oats and quinoa crepes / pancakes with veggies are my fav!0 -

I agree with the one poster who speaks about eat anything you would any other time! I love a poached egg in the morning, and always have it with a slice of cheese and a cup of broccoli or spinach with a tsp of olive oil. I like to get protein, fat, carb in each meal.. have my coffee with half and half and sugar as well. Learned this form my Filipino friend who always has fish and rice for breakfast, once I tried it, it was a shift in how I thought about breakfast!0

I made a fritatta at the weekend with tons of veggies and beef sausage with cheese on top. Did us for breakfast Sunday but also gave me a couple of breakfasts during the week. One slice is around 200 cals but keeps me going until lunch. I add a slice of gf toast if i am especially hungry or expecting a very active morning. I love just needing to reheat something quickly, gives me time for an extra cup of coffee.0

my favourite breakfast is scrambled eggs with spinach or avocado!
It used to be scrambled egg with croissant, but I made the switch and think the veggie versions are probably even yummier.
Have you seen recipes for chia seed "pudding"/porridge? depending on what you add, that can be a great protein-based sweet option.0 -

My go-to lower carb breakfast has been full fat yoghurt, mixed berries, chopped nuts, and ground seeds for the past 3/ 4 months. With 100g of yoghurt, 100g of berries, 1/4 cup of seeds, and 1/4 cup of nuts, you're looking at something like 550- 600 calories and 25g net carbs. In addition, you get a nice amount of fibre (20g), although protein is on the lower side (22g) but that's usually about as much protein as I can handle first thing in the morning, and tend to make up my protein at lunch (moderate protein) and dinner (high protein).0

I sometimes make an omelet with two eggs and 1/4 cup spinach with a side of whole grain wheat toast. its delicious, filling and low in carbs0

One of my personal favourites is making a fruit smoothie!
100g 0% fage Greek yoghurt (about 9g protein, it's amazing)
80g frozen berries of your choice (you can get cheap pre-frozen mixed berries from any supermarket)
1 small banana or half a medium banana
A little water to help the blending process

What do you consider low-carb though? My diabetic self is on 100g per day. Spread evenly through the day they keep my blood sugar steady, so I really eat anything.
A pack of plain oatmeal (can't be bothered to cook in the morning) smothered with cinnamon and 1 piece of rye toast with butter is under 30, which is my limit for a meal. Everything everyone else says except fruit, cause I can't take it. Sometimes I'll throw some berries in, cause those are pretty low GI.
Also keep in mind, your body treats fibre differently than carbs, so a net carb is carb minus fibre-which opens your options a bit.0 -

I haven't actually done the calculations because I wasn't using MFP while I was making them, but when my doctor told me to stay away from bad starches and carbs, she recommended a breakfast for me: greek yogurt pancakes.
Take
-2tbsp oat bran
-2tbsp plain greek yogurt (no flavorings or anything)
-an egg white.
Whip all together and cook like a pancake. Feel free to sweeten/flavor with cinnamon, vanilla, etc. I had that for breakfast every day with some more greek yogurt and fruit and it was very filling.0
