Someone to lose a 100 pounds with herbalife !

Options
Hello ^-^,

First of all, thank you for reading that. My name is Bee and I am severely obese (Not morbidly though, my BMI is 35). I am going to start a diet with Herbalife (It really works) and go to the gym five times a week to try and lose a hundred pounds. YES, YOU READ WELL, a hundred as in 1-0-0 ! My goal is 2-4 lbs per week, I don't care how but I'll do it ! The thing is, I really want a friend who is around my age (optional) and weight (around 225 lbs) because in my family no one is overweight and doing a long diet alone, especially when everyone eats whatever they want, is not fun AT ALL.
I hope I'll find something in here >.< I don't want to go through that alone, it's a huge step in my life and I want to be able to share it !

Thanks again <3
Lot of love and kisses :D
Bee

Going on a fad diet is not going to teach you how to eat properly. You'll most likely just end up losing a few pounds, then rebound and gain back even more than you lost. Been there, done that.

You may be better off searching the Groups for a Herbalife group - the forums are not particularly receptive to it, or any other "pay us stacks and we'll make you skinny" product.

All weight loss is--is calories in versus calories out simply meaning eat less move more. I don't like these type products that promise weight loss. They never work. It's just designed to relieve you of cash.

Remember a calorie is a calorie regardless if it comes from protein, fat or carbs. Be faithful about logging in everyday, weigh your food before you cook it, and you'll be successful. It's not designed to eliminate your favorite foods you just eat less of it. Two slices of bread turn into one, a piece of cake is now a sliver, etc etc.

As far as exercise, (you're not staring in Extreme Weight Loss) take your time in finding something you enjoy doing, that will insure that you stick with it. It could be sports a dance aerobics class, hiking, swimming or walking. If you're a beginner start out slow two to three days a week, then when you are comfortable with that, move up in intensity and frequency.

As you continue to log in your calories everyday, you will learn the foods that you're eating that are loaded with empty fat calories and will start making better choices. You're going to get hungry, there is no such thing as losing weight without hunger. Lots of tips on this board on how to alleviate that. Mine is Skippy all natural peanut butter with honey. A tablespoon takes the hunger away, and I actually eat less at the next meal.

It's a long haul, but it all leads to a much healthier, happier you. Just stick with it and you'll get there.

    Welcome!

Well I'm not trying to lose 100 pounds, though my goal is 80 total (65 or so left to go), I have no interest in using pills to do it, I do workout 6 days a week and am happy to be your friend if you wish.

    Hey BeeToTheDee,
I've spent the last 9 months going from 18st to just under 14st.
I followed MFP calorie counting for about 4-5 months. Which was where i lost the bulk of the weight.
However after losing this weight i started reading more and more into weight loss, and the right and wrong ways of doing it.
Wish i'd done the research first, as i had wasted time.
If you believe the way for you to lose the weight is to go down the route of Herbalife or other shake. Then go for it. Because you believe in it, and your willpower will be strong using that, then do it. But it's not the best way to do it.

Having read a whole load of information there's so many different and conflicting arguments for everything you can eat. For example everyone tells you that fructose is a healthy sugar. Well it's also argued it's not. As it can only be broken down in your liver, and when it's broken down it's broken down into fat. Also your body doesn't feel full when eating fructose, and it cannot register it, and if you consume too much of it, it make you body insulin resistant.

Anyways, the way i'm doing stuff now is eating every 2.5 - 3 hours.
eating about 20-30g of protein per meal/snack.(2-3 eggs, or a chicken breast)
    plenty of whole fruits.
WHOLEMEAL bread (not brown, as brown can be white bread flour with stuff mixed in to make it look brown)
nuts (peanut butter with nothing added, can get that from holland and barret)
and having about 500ml of water everytime i eat.

    Hope this helps.

Remove "with Herbalife (It really works)" and you'll still succeed.

I wish you luck with your plan, but have to wonder why you would want to spend that kind of money for a plan that will be difficult at best to maintain your goal weight on, rather than just losing the weight using a free plan like MFP. My BMI started out higher than yours and I've lost almost 75 pounds already with it. I haven't spent a penny on it other than my groceries.

If you are so committed to the Herbalife plan, then why use MFP at all? I'm sure Herbalife has support groups online as well, and they will be geared specifically towards that plan and getting the most out of it.

I guess I'm just sceptical, I've tried the weight loss programs, the fad diets and all the "tricks" to lose weight, but nothing worked for me until I was ready to make a committment to healthier living and eating. MFP was EXACTLY what it took to help me track what I was eating and get a better idea of how much food I actually needed vs how much I wanted.

Again, I wishyou luck on your journey and hope you will be successful.

    Welcome aboard.

Under "recent information", be sure to read "Significant Lead Levels Found in Herbalife Products".
And under "journal articles", read them both. They talk about liver damage & even liver failure & death thanks to HL.

Better to spend your money on the gym membership and real food, a good pair of shoes, comfortable workout clothes, maybe meeting with a dietician to understand how to eat healthy and a couple sessions with a personal trainer to set up an exercise plan. Those things will carry through after you stop buying the HL junk.

    As ArcheryChick said:
"My BMI started out higher than yours and I've lost almost 75 pounds already with it. I haven't spent a penny on it other than my groceries."
Ditto here, but I'm only about 60 lb down so far. Started at 40.7, am now at 32.1.
I have been working with a weight loss doctor (teaching me about healthy goals, how to reach them, & monitoring my progress),
and did use phentermine for several months until my hunger was reset to a normal level. (What an amazing change!! Thank you, whoever invented it!)
Other than that, I've spent money on a gym membership, groceries, some clothing in smaller sizes.
go to the gym five times a week
Ease into it. If you try to go whole-hog all at once (5 days a week, 1 hour + a day: 40 min weightlifting, 30 on the elliptical) you're going to give up. Start with 3 days a week, 1 set of weightlifting and 10 min on the treadmill. Gradually increase everything until you're doing the whole workout: 2 sets of 12 reps for weightlifting (2-3 days per week), and at least 30 min on the elliptical (every day).
to try and lose a hundred pounds.
I'm aiming for at least 110 lb, considering up to 125, but that will depend on how I feel once I get to the top of a healthy weight range.

My goal is 2-4 lbs per week
In the beginning, 2 lb per week is a reasonable & healthy goal.
As you get closer to a healthy weight, the rate will slow to 1.5 lb per week, then 1 lb, and when you're within maybe 30 lb of a healthy weight if you lose 0.5 lb a week you're doing well.
