What would you order from this menu?

I'm looking to eat either one Entree or a (filling) appetizer. Obviously the veggies and rice pasta sounds good, but I don't really know what's involved with rice pasta and google isn't too helpful.

these are probably the "best" choices (ie least calories):

    - steamed shrimp dumplings
    - edamame
    - steamed tofu
    - man-doo soup
    - mi-yuk soup
    - the salads
  • Haven't had any for years, though I haven't been to Korea in years.
Kim-chi can be an acquired taste, it's normally a cabbage dish.
The few other dishes I had while I was in Korea were all deep fried & not the best for you, but were yummy.

Overall Korean food is good, some can be spicy if you're not used to it. But if you watch the portion size you shouldn't get in too much trouble. You can always ask (or e-mail) them for their nutrition info.
  • tteok-bokki for starters, its really filling and spicy, so you wont eat that much of it. plus it is completely yum!! or the man-doo soup. this menu is amazing!! for main course go for a meat or bbq dish, most of the others have a massive amount of rice.

galbitang ribs are to die for!

i lived in south korea for two years, this menu is just making me home sick....

Hi My husband is Korean and we eat it all the time.

I would go for Bibimbop if you are hungry ( the dolsot kind is the best) just try not to eat all of the rice. I eat it regularly and have one saved as a meal, "brown rice bi bim bop with beef" it contains 1 cup of rice and is approx 560 calories. I often only eat 1/2 cup of the rice though.

If you get bbq, bulgogi is the best and sooo delicious but the marinade is fairly high sodium. It's rib eye which is a fairly fatty cut but you don't eat a huge amount so it's not too bad. You grill that up and east it wrapped in a lettuce leaf with kimchi and a bit of rice and a bit of their bbq sauce. Delicious. When you order BBQ they will usually give you ban chan for free which is lots of little dishes, mostly marinated vegetables and maybe 1 fish or meat dish. These are usually very healthy.

If you like spicy, soups and tofu then tofu jigae is very healthy.
Stay away from the pa juns - they are really tasty but high calorie.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to help if I can and would love to hear if this place is any good. Iive in NY but have not tried this spot.

I googled ‘Korean Food Nutrition to find MFP has a giant list. Hopefully this helps with the more traditional/popular items.

Stick to something with vegetables and meat, avoid the noodles and rice and anything that says 'fried". It will all be full of sodium so drink a lot of water.

Thank you! I've sent you a friend request and will let you know how it was! I think I'll go for the bibimbop, based on your rec. Sounds good. Do you usually have to specify brown rice over white, or does it come like that?

Also...."bibimbop" and "bulgogi?" How cute is that. I think I might re-name my pets!

Ha ! cute names for pets or fish ......
You would have to ask for the brown rice and not every Korean restaurant has it. In the end the white has a similar amount of calories I just always opt for the whole grains when I can.
