I tried to look back a couple of pages to see if there was a post on Weekend Eating and I didn't see anything. If there is already a post, please link it to me!!

Anyway - What are some of your tips for not over-eating on the weekends? I can usually stay on track through the week because I am busy enough to not think about food.

However, I'm not as busy on the weekends and pay more attention to my stomach.

What would you guys suggest for me to keep my appetite in check???

Pam

I'm a weekend eater also at times. I have learned to try to keep busy...if I feel like eating and I truly don't need to eat then I workout even if I already worked out, a walk or something like that. I scrapbook, clean etc. Just find something to do to keep your mind off of food...my closets have never been cleaner!! :)

Start reading books on getting healthy.

Eat higher fiber meals - they keep you full longer.

Brush your teeth - I personally hate the flavor of tooth paste mixed with food.

Drink more water. Carry a water bottle with you at all times.

Look at yourself in the mirror -OFTEN. Remember why you are on this journey to a healthier you!

If you find yourself being a couch potatoe-find a show about people fighting the battle of the bulge. Biggest Loser - Heavy, etc. They really make us realize how bad things can get if we do not focus NOW. While on that couch -do leg lifts, shadow boxing - stretching, etc. . . don't just sit there -MOVE!!

Hope some of these ideas work for you. I have issues on the weekends because I can not log in here -we have no internet at home. We do a lot of social things in taverns -it REALLY makes it hard to make WISE choices!

"the time to REstart is the moment you take that last bite of something unwise" but this does not give us permission to go wild with the unwise choices!

"The food you Eat today - Dictates the Body You'll Have Tomorrow"
  • Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

I think the main goal is just to stay busy or fill my time with things that are not revolving around food!!

As much as possible, I try to maintain my eating schedule on the weekends, as well as the week. It's easy to get into the trap of being busy and forgetting (or being lazy) on the weekends. So I keep to the schedule as much as possible and that helps reduce cravings and boredom eating.
