Does anyone have any really helpful advice that will make this the most beneficial to me? I am 20 yrs old and my goal is to lose 50 pounds. My husband and I are tying to get pregnant and right now my doctor says one of the reasons I may be having problems is because of how overweight I am. I do realize once I get pregnant I obviously will not get/stay at my goal weight but in trying I am hoping it will help us start a family. Thanks for any advice you have!

Welcome! I love this program. I started 1/6/11 and have lost 9 pounds in the 3 weeks.
I must say that I am very dedicated to logging in all foods even the quick little snacks and I really helps.
You are welcome to look at my food diary and see what type of food I eat.
Good Luck on your journey!0 -
It will be a year in May. My hubby is in the Marines and deploys sometime this summer and we want to have a baby on the way before he leaves but it seems like there is no hope. If this will help I am all for trying!0

Hey girl!
Your doctor told you to come to the right place! I just started two days ago.. but there is such a loving, supportive community here! Tracking your food and exercise and being careful of what you put in your mouth makes all the difference! Best of luck to you Add me as a friend if you'd like!0 -
I wish you the best of luck, and in all honesty, the stress of trying can actually hinder you getting pregnant. Maybe if you "stop trying" it will happen.0

To optimize this website start with the BMI tool on the My Home tab and try to track the foods you eat. A lot of people write a daily log and then input the info when they get home. Finding some threads with people working towards similar goals or creating a group yourself can be helpful. There are a lot of things on here and its a very user friendly site.
Good Luck getting pregnant and thank you to your husband for serving our country.0 -
My aunt tried for years and even went to fertility doctors, as soon as she stopped Over-trying and let herself relax she got pregnant with twin boys, she now has 5 little ones. Maybe your just to stressed, putting to much pressure on yourself. I hope it happens for you soon.:flowerforyou:0

Losing weight might definitely help you get pregnant. I lost 50lbs in 2009 on Weight Watchers. Later that year hubby and I decided to get pregnant and we were lucky enough to get pregnant our first month of trying. When I went to my OB he was shocked and said that my drastic weight loss definitely played a roll in getting pregnant. I was originally 255lbs, got down to 205lbs to get pregnant....gained it all back during my twin pregnancy, and it's come right back off. Good luck in your journey!0

Hey Kaylamae,
I work in aN OB/GYN office as a transcriptionist, have you been checked for PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome...it seems to be very prevalent in overweight women and it makes it difficult for them to become pregnant. If you are not currently seeing an OB/GYN provider for advice you might want to seek one out and see if they have a fertility specialist in the same office or if they can refer you to one. Good Luck and tell your husband THANK YOU from me for Serving our GREAT COUNTRY! Will pray for his safety.0 -

Thanks.. they actually just put me on Metformin today to see if that will help and are in the process of starting whatever treatments will be needed... they did diagnose me with PCOS. Finally after a year of this crap I got a dr who listens and in one visit did all of this0 -

This program will work for you. All you have to do is stick with it and understand that it works best if you pay attention to both portions: the food diary AND the exercise diary. Pay attention to both equally.
As an ob/gyn nurse, I agree with your doctor about losing weight before you get pregnant. This will be healthier for you and your baby. I worked in labor and delivery for 15 years and observed that women who have been active and have stayed active during their pregnancies tolerate labor better. So that will be added benefit to you.
While you are working toward a healthier weight and better fitness, is your doctor also checking for other infertility reasons? Have you been taking your basal temperature to see if you are ovulating? Has your husband been checked for infertility issues?
I wish you the best of luck. Don't get discouraged. If possible, try to focus on just getting to a healthy weight and better fitness level. Then you have the energy to keep up with your children!
edited to add: Oops, I see you already have a diagnosis, so disregard that paragraph.0 -
Thanks! I think this will go very well. This kinda reminds me of weight watchers except I don't feel like a weirdo labeling points on my food lol.
Yes, they are checking my husband too... he has an appt soon!0
