So I started measurements about 2 weeks ago... Looking good.. Ive been on MFP for about a month and also doing a c25k program... Regularly walking and 30 Day Shread... My weight is not really going anywhere.. I have recently amped up my exercise activity... I'm hoping that my weigh in on Tue will show at least 1 or 2lbs. Obviously I'm feeling better and smaller... Is it muscle that is keeping me from seeing the #'s on the scale? urggh... Why am I so stuck on seeing a smaller # when my body is obviously changing?

Exercise can make your muscles hang onto water to help them recover. Doing strength training along with cardio can make you burn fat while you build a little muscle. If you drink a protein shake immediately after exercising your muscles hold onto less water because they get the protein they need to recover faster.

But, as long as you're seeing the changes in your body, don't worry about the number on the scale.

I've recently started exercising too and my weight is now stuck. I've lost 1/4" on my waist in just over a week so I can't complain but I too am having trouble getting over the scale not moving. I know better its just a mental hurdle to get past.

I gave up the scale a couple of months ago. I was fixated on the number and not how I felt.

Once I switched this mindset I began working out more! I was afraid that building muscle would affect the number on the scale - so I did less exercise.

Now, I can see and feel my body changing and there is no number haunting me. I am the judge (as well as my clothes) on how I am doing!!!!

    Best of luck!

I'm feeling the same way. the scale hasnt changed in 2 weeks but i've lost a couple inches. still isnt encouraging enough to make me happy when that damn scale isnt dropping! thats why some say to just throw it out lol but i cant!
its easier said than done but as long as you know you're eating right and exercising like you should you will see results and soon that scale will follow!

I had the same issue. I was stuck at 192 for months! I could see a change and my clothes fit better but the scale still said 192lbs. I decided i needed to see stats change for my emotional well being. I purchased a total body composition scale. The Omron HBF516. Loooove it! I can see my stats change and improve wvery week. My motivation is high again. his website and that scale have been very instrumental in my success.
